| “ | This is Redmond Mann speaking from an unspecified location beyond the grave. I may be dead, but as long as you're cashing my checks, you'll damn well do what you're told. And I'm telling you to push my brother to hell! | „ |
| ~ Redmond Mann. |
Redmond Mann is one of three secondary antagonists (alongside his twin brother and Merasmus) of Valve Corporation's Team Fortress franchise.
He is the brother of Blutarch Mann and Gray Mann, one of the sons of Zepheniah Mann, and is the head of RED (Reliable Excavation Demolition), in which he hired the RED team of mercenaries. Redmond uses a life extender machine, which extends his life, in an attempt to outlive his twin, who also has the same machine. This ultimately caused their war with each other to last for at least a century until the year of 1971, where he and Blutarch were killed by their brother Gray, who had resurfaced, but Redmond and Blutarch would continue their sibling rivalry even becoming ghosts after Gray killed them and tried to send each other to Hell.
He is voiced by Nolan North, who also voices his twin brother Blutarch Mann and Merasmus in Team Fortress 2 and Penguin in Batman Arkham series.
Biography[]
Redmond Mann was born on September 2, 1822 alongside his brothers Blutarch and Grey to Zepheniah Mann and Bette Mann, the latter of whom died after giving birth. Shortly afterwards, Grey was abducted by an eagle, which left just Redmond and Blutarch in the care of their father Zepheniah, the founder of Mann Co. Even right after being born, Redmond already possessed a fierce rivalry with his brother; one that would persist for the rest of his life.
In 1850, the brothers, now adults, convinced their father to buy a massive plot of land in the state of New Mexico. Zepheniah planned on using the land for weapons manufacturing, but was shocked upon arriving by the revelation that the land he had bought was nothing more than a useless desert, and died shortly afterwards after contracting every disease known to man. As punishment for wasting his fortune, Zepheniah gave the land away to both Redmond and Blutarch in his will, knowing they would never agree to share it and instead waste the rest of their lives fighting over it.
Blood Brothers[]
In Blood Brothers (set in 1971), Redmond and Blutarch decided to end their long war over Gravel and to try and create a clone of themselves to carry on their legacy. The third of the Mann triplets, and their lost brother, Gray Mann appeared and revealed he had organized the meeting, he then told them about who he was and assassinated them.
Grave Matters[]
In Grave Matters (set a few seconds after the previous webcomic), The ghosts of Redmond and Blutarch arguing who died first thus who won the war. They eventually have their opposing teams, RED and BLU, push each other's cart (who is stuffed with their corpses) to Hell, as whoever gets to Hell first is the first to be technically dead and so, whoever gets to Hell first loses. Since this is a never ending game mode, it is never determined who actually wins the war, as it simply depends of the players.
Personality[]
Redmond is just as unpleasant and unintelligent as Blutarch.
Trivia[]
- Like Blutarch's name having BLU in it, Redmond had RED in his name as a reference to his team.
