| ~ Nigel Farage's catchphrase |
Reform UK, known as Reform for short, are some of the main antagonists of the spinoff of the ITV series Spitting Image. The Rest is Bullshit.
They are a parody of the far-right British party of the same name, whose controversial policies and extreme nationalist sentiment have led to them being portrayed in a villainous manner here. They are led by Nigel Farage.
Biography[]
Background[]
Their leader, Nigel Farage was a member of the European Parliament before founding the Brexit Party (renamed as Reform UK in 2018) becoming its on and off leader until 2024, when five MPs - Sarah Pochin, Richard Tice, Lee Anderson, Danny Krueger and Farage himself - were elected to parliament.
Spitting Image[]
The party is first portrayed in the "Unite the Kingdom" section, where Elon Musk attempts to incite a riot among the protesters. "London Fascist Week" segment, advertising Nazi memorabilia and urinating on a police officers grave. Farage is later seen attacking Starmer during his album presentation, and then again in a vesion of "The Weakest Link" hosted by Piers Morgan. Here, he repeatedly outmanouvers Kemi Badenoch, declares his fascist intentions as Badenoch is voted "The Weakest Political Link". He then reappears complaining about the colour of beer (considering it "not white enough") before Prince Harry pitches the drug "Cream of Farage" - which incites Reform-esque sentiment in both Badenoch and Keir Starmer.
Nigel Farage appears again in Keir Starmer's nightmares, as a parody of Freddy Krueger in the Halloween special, measuring up Downing Street to prepare to move in and taunting him with his leadership failure, which Starmer declares "A Nightmare on Downing Street". When Starmer exits the dream world, he claims it his real situation is worse than the nightmare and asks to be put back in, at which point Farage reappears and claims he is still in the dream while laughing manically. Reform is seen once again through the appearance of an "Old Witch from Reform" (likely a reference to Sarah Pochin), where she creates a spell that summons Farage who defends her - when he drinks the spell, he is incapacitated.
Farage appears in a later episode delivering his economic policy in a speech. To do so, he plans to:
- Grow the economy by making more flags.
- Make more money selling flags.
- Reduce unemployment by opening flag factories.
Farage then accidentally reads the back of a cigarette packet, then demands his listeners to wear a Remembrance Poppy.
In the next episode, Farage appears dressed in a colonial-era outfit, running through the grounds of the BBC HQ and repeating 'where's your poppy'. He then joins in with Trump to sing "Woke BCC" (A YMCA), attacking the show for not being right-wing propaganda but thanking them for all the interviews they give him. He is then seen briefly in a cut to an authoritarian future five years down the line, when he is seemingly in charge of a dictator state, and quotes 1984 as he signs off: "War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength".
Farage then returns on "I'm a Non-Entity, Get Me Out of Here", in which his 'right-wing bollocks' are eaten as a challenge by Keir Starmer and Kemi Badenoch
