My parents are never home! I never get to see them! Why should you get real parents AND godparents that love you when I don't?!
~ Remy Buxaplenty's jealousy towards Timmy Turner

Remy Buxaplenty is a major antagonist in Nickelodeon's The Fairly OddParents franchise.

He is a young billionaire who has a fairy godfather due to the lack of attention he receives from his parents. He is completely determined to get rid of Timmy Turner's Fairy Godparents due to his extreme jealousy towards him, as he has two fairy Godparents and real parents who love him.

Personality[]

Remy is shown to be extremely arrogant and selfish. While not generally shown to be evil, he chooses to antagonize Timmy (and later his friends) because he is jealous of his godparents and parents who love him. He speaks in an intelligent, persuasive and slightly husky voice and constantly brags and flaunts his extreme wealth. However, his overall demeanor and sour attitude mask the fact that he is actually very miserable as he never sees his parents and is constantly neglected by them.

Despite his attitude, Remy has a positive relationship with his fairy godfather Juandissimo. He relays on him to give him the love and attention his birth parents never give him. Remy shows him nothing but love, politeness, and respect he never showed towards anyone else. It's implied that Remy sees him as more of a parent than his biological parents.

Biography[]

Remy was born into the Buxaplenty family, the richest family in all of Dimmsdale. Despite being wealthy enough to have anything he wanted, all he desired was his parents love and attention. His parents care only about their wealth, only spend 2 minutes a day with him, forget his name and instead only call him "Son" or misname him, and half the time forget that they even have a son. This upset so much, he became envious that the poor kids have parental love while he doesn't. Some time ago, he became the godson of Juandissimo Magnifico who, despite being a womanizing narcissist, acted as a father figure to him and gave him the emotional support and love he desperately craved and disguised himself as Remy's oddly colored ferret. Even though he now had someone who loved him like a son and can be able to do things he normally would never have without a godparent, he still held onto the hope of his parents would turn around and pay attention to him.

Remy first entered Timmy's life in the episode "Fairy Fairy Quite Contrary" where it is revealed that he can improve Timmy on many different things, from buying all the tickets to the Crash Nebula to his place as Cleft in the Crimson Chin comic. Timmy and Remy eventually learn that the other has a fairy godparent. Fearing that Timmy might wish to be richer than him, the latter demanded that Juandissimo get rid of Timmy's godparents. Unfortunately, this would be prohibited by "El Rules". This leads Remy to trying to bribe Timmy into wishing him his godparents in exchange for money. But Timmy refuses the offer, pointing out that Remy is unhappy despite having a fairy godfather and being rich and that he is much happier than him. Angered by this claim, Remy calls a magic duel, further encouraged by Juandissimo. In a three-match competition, Timmy won by pure luck. This caused Remy to lose Juandissimo and have his memories erased. Timmy felt sorry for Remy and wished he could spend more time with his parents.

Unfortunately, Cosmo and Wanda inadvertently abandoned Remy and his parents on a tropical island. To make matters worse, his parents found an oil well and built a hotel, making them busier than ever. In the middle of it all, Remy is hit in the head by a "handsome purple coconut" and he remembers everything. Without Juandissimo there to comfort him and finally accepting his parents will never love him, he became even more bitter than he was. This prompts him to create a new plan to get revenge on Timmy. He eventually returns to Dimmsdale to befriend Timmy and make sure he doesn't depend on his fairies, getting to the point where he doesn't need them anymore. In the end, Cosmo and Wanda are ordered to leave as Timmy has a happy life without their help. An overjoyed Remy announces that his plan has succeeded, and as he proclaims his triumph, Juandissimo appears, revealing that he was the purple coconut that restored his memory. Soon after, when everyone thought it was actually Juandissimo's plan, Jorgen Von Strangle seems to reveal that it was his idea to get Remy and Juandissimo back together, simply because the latter was now a chef at his favorite restaurant and the food he made was terrible. Jorgen therefore prevents Cosmo and Wanda from being taken away, and Remy is foiled again. To punish Remy for his transgressions, Jorgen orders him to eat Juandissimo's rather inedible food.

Remy is next seen in "The Big Bash". When Cupid invites Timmy, Cosmo, and Wanda to a party he's throwing, Timmy discovers that Remy has been invited as well. Learning of the scavenger hunt that Cupid was holding along with the no-rules wishes that the winner would receive, Remy tells Timmy that he will beat him at the game and use the wishes to get rid of his fairy godfathers once and for all. After making sure that he will be riding in his time "limousine" and not a time scooter, he wishes that all the other contestants would sleep. Unfortunately for him, it doesn't affect Timmy because he had his godparents summon a magic bubble. After traveling through different time periods and places to complete the scavenger hunt, Remy appears to defeat Timmy, but his final item is not what Cupid wanted, making Timmy the winner as he was given the correct item. It is soon revealed that the two were simply shopping for Cupid's groceries and in anger settled their differences with a truce and turned their attention to Cupid, ordering the various characters they encountered during their travels to hunt him down. Once they succeed, the two godchildren share the meal Cupid was going to eat.

Remy is next seen in "Operation F.U.N.", where he lures Timmy and his friends into a military school to antagonize them. The episode implies that Remy attends the school from this point on.

It was confirmed in "Teacher's Pet" that Remy is still Juandissimo's godson. While not seen, Wanda mentioned him when they tried to warn Juandissimo about a Crocker/Animal hybrid hunting Dimmsdale's fairy godparents is on the loose.

Remy's last appearance is in "Country Clubbed". The Buxaplentys invite Timmy and his parents to their "Fancy Schmancy Country Club" because his parents accidentally-on-purpose ran Timmy's parents over with their limo. Unfortunately, they are humiliated in front of everyone at the country club. Fortunately, Timmy (with the help of Cosmo who is trying to kill a gopher because of a prophecy written on toilet paper) manages to prevent them from embarrassing his parents further by blowing up their country club, 200-room mansion, yacht, and limousine.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike most godchildren who permanently lose their fairies, Remy, along with Timmy, was given a second chance as a godson.
  • Remy rhymes with Timmy.
  • Since Juandissimo later became a Fairy Idol contestant and appeared without Remy, some fans may have been under the impression that Remy lost his fairy godfather again after "Operation F.U.N.", but in "Teacher's Pet" reveals he is still his godson.
