Renard is a major antagonist in the 2017 Japanese dark fantasy light novel, manga and anime series Redo of Healer. He is the captain of the Jioral Kingdom's knight squad, and one of Keyarga's tormentors as well as the rapist of Anna (Keyarga's first love).
In the anime, he was voiced by Yasuaki Takumi, and by Eri Akiyama when turned into a woman.
Personality[]
Renard is an arrogant and cruel man who has a sadistic streak when he enjoys getting pleasure from inflicting pain on others. However, after he was punished by King Jioral for failing to protect his daughter, Flare Arlgrande Jioral, Renard has become a completely insane lunatic when he suffered a mental breakdown from his humiliation by Keyarga. He is also an abusive pervert and a psychotic rapist, when he raped and harassed Keyarga's first love, Anna, causing her to commit suicide. However, he is also very reckless, ending up disobeying Norn's direct order to capture Anna, since he ruined her plans to use Anna as a precious hostage just for his revenge on Keyarga after he was punished by King Jioral.
Ultimately, in the end of his life, when he was about to be gangraped to death at the hands of his own subordinates that were brainwashed by Keyarga's magic after Keyarga turned him into a woman, Renard also proved to be a coward, when he tried to beg Keyarga to spare him so that he would become his complete loyal servant and also hypocritically asked if he had a shed of humanity left in him which Keyarga replied he doesn't because what Renard did to Anna made Keyarga a coldblooded psychopath.
Biography[]
Original Timeline[]
While there has been no flashback to Keyaru's original timeline in which Renard appeared, it is well known that Renard existed in that timeline. This is known since at the time when Keyaru is picked up by Flare to the Jioral Kingdom, Keyaru mentions Renard, and taking into account that before Keyaru made his escape in the current timeline everything was following the same course as in the previous timeline, it is known that Renard tortured Keyaru there. Since Keyaru obviously never made his escape in that timeline, it's unknown if Renard gave him more torture. Seeing the flashbacks of Keyaru when he was traveling with Flare, Bullet and Blade, Renard is not seen, therefore it is unknown what happened with him in that timeline, probably Renard stayed in the Jioral Kingdom due to his duty as captain at there.
Current Timeline[]
After Keyaru is imprisoned, Renard beats up Keyaru, seeing the boy's refusal to heal as an act of disrespect towards Flare. When Keyaru makes his escape, he catches Renard off guard incapacitates him before switching their appearances. Keyaru uses this opportunity to get Renard sent to the dungeon and get his revenge on Flare.
Renard goes on to be tortured until they conclude that he isn't Keyaru and release him. As a sign of his hatred for Keyaru, Renard mutilates his own face. Eventually, he is given orders to capture the people of Keyaru's village. During the subsequent invasion, Renard, still with Keyaru's face, rapes Anna, who kills herself by biting her own tongue off.
Renard later meets Keyaru and gleefully reveals his actions. Keyaru, overcome with rage, transforms Renard into a girl and leaves him to be gangraped to death by his own drugged soldiers until Keyaru purposely engulfs the house in flames, purposely killing both Renard and his brainwashed soldiers.
