The Rephaites were a race of demi-giants found in the Old Testament, thus are considered a part of Biblical lore among most of the main branches of Christianity, Judaism and Islam; they were among the "smallest" of the giants depicted in the tales, who were believed to have regularly warred with the early Hebrew people, with other giant-like races including the Anakim and Nephilim.
History[]
The Rephaites were a tribe of giants found in the early tales of Christianity who stood much larger than an average human and often quarrelled with the early Hebrew people, likely meant to symbolize the pagan world and its many followers, who at the time would of greatly outnumbered the still young Christian faith and posed a threat to its followers.
The most infamous of all the Rephaites would be Og, a mythological king who was said to be so large, his bed was over 9 cubits in length (roughly equal to 14 ft (4 meters) in today's standards).
Goliath is also considered to have likely been a Rephaite due to his relatively "small" size but some believe him to be a member of the Anakim (or even a completely unique figure unrelated to either tribe).
Like other giants described in Biblical lore the Rephaites apparently perished in the modern age or have diminished to such numbers they are no longer a visible threat to mankind, like the Anakin they also grew smaller with each generation, thus would likely simply become akin to normal humans in size and strength with the passing of time (albeit likely still brutish and cruel).
