The Replica Xehanorts are enemies in Kingdom Hearts III, appearing as minor antagonists in the base game and the secondary antagonists of Kingdom Hearts III: Re:Mind. They are a set of twelve replicas that were created when members of the real Organization XIII were defeated during the Second Keyblade War.
Biography[]
During Vexen's initial work on the Replica Program, he created twenty replicas. The first twelve were deemed as failures, while the next two, Riku Replica and Xion, were successes. He based the remaining six upon the two successes, but those plans were cut short just before he neared completion. Later, following the Riku Replica and Xion's destruction, Master Xehanort brought Vexen back into the real Organization to use the remaining replicas for his own purposes: the six unused replicas were refined to serve as vessels for time-traveling Organization members, while the initial twelve were repurposed into replicas of the Organization, barring Master Xehanort himself.
The Replica Xehanorts awaken with the defeat of the Organization's members, and attacked Sora, Donald, and Goofy in Scala ad Caelum. Following the Replicas' defeat, Master Xehanort absorbs the replicas to increase his powers, transforming themselves into armor that Master Xehanort uses for his final battle.
After Sora shatters Master Xehanort's armor, the Replica Xehanorts are sent to battle the remaining Guardians of Light at the Keyblade Graveyard. They successfully trap all but Mickey in a dark void. All twelve Replica Xehanorts are held off by Mickey (and by a future Sora) before he frees the other Guardians from the void.
In a last ditch attempt to stop the Guardians of Light, the Replica Xehanorts merge into one copy of Armored Xehanort, who fight the future Sora and a revived Kairi. Despite their strength, the Replica Xehanorts are weakened enough by Sora and Kairi to be finished off for good by all the Guardians of Light, ending the threat of Xehanort for good.
Powers and Abilities[]
The replicas initially wield the weapons of the Organization's fallen members: Xemnas's Interdiction, Xigbar's Sharpshooter, Luxord's Fair Game, Larxene's Foudre, Marluxia's Graceful Dahlia, Saïx's Lunatic, Dark Riku's Soul Eater, Terra-Xehanort's No Name, Vanitas's Void Gear, Young Xehanort's Keyblade, and Xion's Replica Kingdom Key; Ansem's replica does not wield a weapon, instead using Ansem's dark powers. They use sheer numbers to overwhelm Sora and company; eleven of them share the same basic attacks, while Xigbar's is the only one that fights differently. For their ultimate attack, they can tint the sky of Scala ad Caelum in darkness and summon pillars of darkness before rushing their opponents together. However, all twelve of them have the same health bar, so simultaneous attacks can easily dispatch them.
When confronting the Guardians of Light, the replicas all wield the No Name. As Armored Xehanort, they wield thirteen No Names, holding one in hand and controlling the other twelve telekinetically, and fight using enhanced versions of Master Xehanort's attacks.
Trivia[]
- Originally believed to be phantoms of the original Xehanort, the Replica Xehanorts are shown to have the individual powers of each member of the real Organization XIII.
- The Replica Xehanorts are mostly silent in battle and do not speak until they merge into Armored Xehanort. As Armored Xehanort, they are voiced by Akio Ohtsuka in Japanese and Christopher Lloyd in English.
