Where are you, sucker? ¡The prisoners escaped! You had to take care of them and look just, now you have to find them before the boss finds out.
~ Resendo

Resendo is a minor antagonist in the 2014 animated film La Leyenda de las Momias de Guanajuato and the secondary antagonist in its 2018 sequel La Leyenda del Charro Negro.

He is a perfidious man who works at "Mina los Siete Dolores", being an employee of Rousseau and the friend of his superior Don Gaspar.

He is voiced by mexican actor Miguel Ángel Ghigliazza, who also voiced Fenrir in Legend Quest.

Description[]

He is a disheveled person with bad manners and a very low temperament, abuse the most defenseless. Apart from his cynicism, he is usually very arrogant because of all the hatred he felt when he was fired from his job, trying to loot everything that would be in the boss' house, no doubt he has no scruples in stealing what is not his belonging. Also demonstrates a greed for valuable gems and stones, that is his only interest in his work.

Story[]

La Leyenda de las Momias de Guanajuato[]

Resendo appears deep in the mine talking to Anselmo about the insurgency. While Anselmo expresses support for the cause, Resendo seems to consider them mere troublemakers. Resendo is one of the two chosen ones who crosses the bridge to investigate Mictlantecuhtli's Portal along with Don Gaspar.

After Rousseau decides to close the mine, Resendo goes to Don Gaspar's house to demand that he answer for the closure. He agrees to accompany Gaspar to demand that Rousseau reopen the mine (and steals an apple from Gaspar's house while his boss is not looking). When he and Gaspar see Rousseau descend into the mine, Resendo attempts to break into Rousseau's office with the intention of robbing him as compensation for the closure, Gaspar is forced to remind him that they are not thieves.

He accompanies Gaspar to the altar of Mictlantecuhtli and observes Denise's resurrection, but his greed proves stronger and he throws himself into the well where jeweled offerings float for the god. The act infuriates Mictlantecuhtli, who makes him disappear (possibly to the afterlife).

La Leyenda del Charro Negro[]

Resendo appears as foreman of the Hacienda del Charro Negro. He refers to the Charro as his patron, and treats the monster Chuy very cruelly, even though he says he is his godson. Unlike the apparitions of the Black Fair, it is possible that this is the real Resendo, being brought to the dimension by the Charro himself after having desecrated the offerings of Mictlantecuhtli.

It is unknown what happened to him after Chuy threw him against the wall (because he had had enough of his mistreatment), but it could be assumed that he died for good once the Black Charro attacked the Ghostbusters Team (including Chuy) after they helped Leo, Nando and Rupertino get out of the underworld.

Trivia[]

  • It could be said that Resendo would be a posthumous villain by triggering most of the events that occurred in the third movie. If he had not dared to steal the treasures from the altar, Mictlantecuhtli would not have annulled Denisse's resurrection and Rousseau would have been happy, Don Gaspar would not die during the conflict and he would not be a fugitive from the law either, the mining company would never have exploded, Xóchitl would not have to be kidnapped and the mummies they would not rise from the dead.
