Lisa is so attracted by his elegance and charm, that she follows him secretly as he walks back to his car. She memorizes the number plate on Richard's car as the latter drives off, and writes the numbers on a piece of paper so that she can keep in touch with him.
The night after, Lisa tracks the number plate and uncovers Richard's number and calls him to titillate him and tells him she saw him in the restaurant where he works. The latter is bemused but continues to manipulate and exploit the fourteen year old girl further along.
Lisa is an obstinate and naive girl whom wants to experience adult intimacy at a young age against her mother's demands. Lisa and her best friend Wendy spy on Richard at the restaurant he works at and mischievously tease him to attain attraction. Another occasion happens where Lisa gets into Richard's car where she is imitates talking to the man in a coquettish way. Lisa is however forced to hide behind the seat as Richard enter his cars and drives off to withdraw money from the bank. As he does, Lisa exist his car the alarm goes off and Richard rushes back to investigate. Richard is left with no trepidations, but excitement to know that Lisa is the one following him.
Richard is ultimately revealed to be a misogynistic and manipulative serial murderer and rapist who plays record tapes, says "I am Richard. I am in your apartment. And I'm going to kill you.” and later places them into the victim's recorder in their flats or houses and grabs them from behind to have his twisted pleasures with the women before strangling them after the tape has been played. Richard has been doing this to several other victims and wields the alias of 'The Candlelight Killer'.
One night Richard and Lisa begin another telephone call conclave, where they both plan to date at his restaurant in secrecy and tells him this 'Ill be wearing a sexy white dress'.
Richard does not exactly come face to face with Lisa, but he bumps into Katherine, coming from the restrooms, whom is the real bearer of the white dress Lisa described in the telephone with Richard. Lisa gives one of the waiters a serviette with her lipstick lips on it, to be delivered to Richard, which also contained Katherine's credit card info. Katherine questions Lisa's behaviour and they quarrel until she confiscates Lisa’s phone.
Katherine overhears a series of murders in the vicinity of her place and grows worried that Lisa will be the next target of the killer. Lisa returns from a holiday, she sneaked off with Wendy and her family, after disagreeing with them and hearing one of Richard's ominous tapes. She is unfortunately seized by the killer who was hiding her door to her room, holding Katherine hostage. Richard knocks out the mother and grabs Lisa around the neck, coerces her into her mother's room filled with lit candles and prepares to molest her.
Fortunately, Katherine awakens and saves the antsy Lisa by stabbing Richard through one of his lungs. This worked temporarily, as Richard withdraws the knife from his impaled body, despite the agony. The two girls run into another room and block the door and Richard follows and breaches it open by bashing his head into the wood. Richard is scarred from the splinters in his face, and cannot see properly. Katherine stands up and gets into a duel with Richard and they both contend until she hits him in the head and startles him through the window, falling to his demise and ending the devious psychopath's horrendous crimes for good.
Personality[]
Richard is surmised on the outside to be a suave, elegant, auspicious, luscious, cordial, wealthy, helpful and luxurious man, running a restaurant, something Lisa believed would suit as a perfect man for her, despite of her only being 14. The truth behind his face is a devious, callous, sadistic, malignant, lewd, avaricious, murderous, manipulative, sinister and misogynistic psychopath, whom takes great indulgence in murdering women and adolescent girls.
He is shown to be very patient as he is not seemingly concerned who is calling him, as long as it is a female calling, so he can stalk them and later play his tapes to the victims, introducing his name and threatening to end them off. Despite not being attentive to Lisa and Katherine's turbulent relationship about age, he is presumably very keen on putting consternation onto Katherine about her daughter's whereabouts, with the latter believing no peril would come for her, as Richard is very handsome and suave when all he seeks with his insolence is to pour his egregious malice onto Lisa and take everything away from her.
