Biography[]
He owned his trucking company and made a fortune with its success over the years. He was married and his wife gave birth to a daughter Samantha, with them being close but fell out of touch after his wife died years later. However, he was still active in the life of his grandson Callum, who looked up to him.
Beck was also a white supremacist who built a criminal empire by trafficking drugs through his business. He was able to keep his activities secret from the CPD who were unaware of his persona as an infamous crime lord. His daughter was aware of his double life and didn't approve of his corrupting influence on her son and tried to distance him but he and Callum secretly traded conversations through the computer and phone.
Overview[]
Richard is first seen in “I Can Let You Go” when Samantha is kidnapped and Sean O’Neal helps Linsday and the Chicago P.D. He refuses to pay the ransom money despite being rich, as he didn’t want his crime family to be discovered. At the end, Samantha is saved.
When a family is found dead in “Blood and Honor”, a meth lab is discovered to be cause of their deaths. Adam Ruzek goes undercover and shoots at two men who were going to “rob” Samatha. Eventually, Ruzek joins the gang and starts bonding with both Samantha and her son, Callum.
In “You Only Die Once”, Dale Griffith goes to a restaurant and stabs an old Korean couple to death, indirectly leaving their kid traumatized. Richard then orders Sam and Ruzek to murder him. Ruzek, with the help of Atwater and Torres chain him to a post and Ruzek shoots two bullets to make it seem like he killed Dale. After leaving, Dale resists arrest and cuts his arm on glass. In the hospital, he breaks his stitches and commits suicide out of fear that Beck will kill him.
In “A Better place” He and his gang start building up to an attack known as “the end”. Samantha is arrested by Ruzek, but she doesn't know what the event will be. After looking through several properties, they find several bombs and a map that Richard will use to bomb 3 elementary schools. When several detectives came to look, he activated a bomb to try and kill them. At the point, Callum was so brainwashed by his dad that he shot Ruzek and tried to kill him, but Ruzek got help. When Samantha tries to leave with Callum, Richard tries to run over Samantha with his truck, but police come and he takes his son hostage. As he proclaims they will never separate, Officer Atwater arrives and shoots him in the head.
