Richter is a major antagonist in the 2016 video game Titanfall 2. He is a member of the Apex Predators, a mercenary group working for the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation in their war with the Frontier Militia. Richter is the most sadistic member of the Apex Predators, with even the group's leader calling him a "sick bastard".
He was portrayed by Andreas Beckett, who voiced Anton Saric from Killzone: Shadow Fall.
Biography[]
Richter is first seen alongside his boss Kuben Blisk during the Battle of Typhon. He executes several wounded Militia soldiers and tries to mutilate the dead bodies, leading him to almost discover the hiding place of rifleman Jack Cooper, but Blisk calls him away and tells him to leave the bodies alone.
Richter is not seen again until "The Beacon", the sixth level in the game. He oversees the deployment of IMC security forces against Cooper as he assaults a communications beacon to try and contact the Militia. He is frequently heard over the radio giving orders to the IMC soldiers and becoming angry when they fail to kill Cooper or ask for backup. When Cooper defeats them and recovers an Uplink Module from the beacon, Richter deploys several Titans against Cooper and his Titan, BT-7274. These Titans and their pilots are swiftly destroyed, to which Richter responds they deserve to die.
Eventually, Richter himself arrives in his own Titan and challenges Cooper and BT to fight. This results in a boss fight wherein Richter uses his Titan's Tone-class weaponry to attack BT in a shootout. Despite Richter's best efforts, Cooper wins the fight and kills Richter by blowing up his Titan with him in it.
Trivia[]
- Richter is seemingly based on the famous European-American actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, with a similar accent and dialogue that references some of Schwarzenegger's films.
- When Richter is killed, the player receives an achievement called "See You At The Party". This is a reference to the Schwarzenegger film Total Recall, in which the film's hero delivers this line after killing another character named Richter.
