Rick Benson is the main antagonist of the Law & Order episode “Rubber Room”. He is a former school teacher turned terrorist who planned a massive attack on his school in an attempt to kill hundreds.
He was portrayed by Andrew Pastides.
Background[]
Rick was considered a good teacher at a Manhattan High School but there was a key problem with its foundation; how easy it is to make false accusations.
Rick became of victim when a student peed in a trash can and the student accused him of molestation to not get in trouble.
Rick was forced into TRC and his girlfriend broke up with him, learning that other teachers were accused as well, he started plotted a mass bombing at his school so he could kill hundreds of inhabitants. All these acts being spread over the internet with quotes and showcases of him using pipe bombs with the alias of “Moot”
Rubber Room[]
Benson is first found when a blog bragging about taking revenge by causing mass destruction is found in a separate case. The Homicide Squad interrogates witnesses such as a kid who found a destroyed box and a woman that found out who he was, officially putting detectives on track to stop the attack
At the school, Benson plants several bombs around the school in places that will claim around 600-700 lives, thankfully they are disarmed. In the meanwhile, Rick pulls out his Hi-Point 995 Carbine and shoots 3 kids non fatally. After committing the shooting, Benson calls his former ex-girlfriend and insults her.
Eventually detective Cyrus Lupo tries to calm him done but it is unsuccessful and he is shot at several times. While Benson is distracted, Kevin Bernard and a teacher tackles Benson, ending his reign of terror and imprisoning him for life.
