Rictus is a major antagonist in Netflix's 2021 animated series Arcane, which is set in the League of Legends universe. He is Ambessa Medarda's personal bodyguard and attendant, as well as an enforcer of her agenda once she seizes power in Piltover.
He is voiced by Stewart Scudamore who also voiced Addair in Still Wakes the Deep.
Appearance[]
Rictus is extremely tall, towering over even Ambessa who already dwarfs most people. He has a low mohawk and quite long brown facial hair, that appears to well put together for its length. He wears other decorum on his face, like a tattoo between his eyes, metal stubs above his right eye and under his mouth, and black eyeliner under his eyes.
He wears the common Noxian Soldier garb and armor, without the helmet, just upsized for his own stature. He is often seen alongside his glaive, with the anti-magic Kaenic Rookern tied around it.
Biography[]
Season 1[]
Rictus appears in the background during Ambessa's arrival, staying alert but silent during her talk with Jayce.
Season 2[]
After the Black Rose attacks Ambessa, Rictus uses his rune staff to disrupt the magic, allowing Ambessa to kill her. He is also seen beside Salo when Ambessa announces Caitlyn's promotion to general, placing a hand on his shoulder to stop him from disrupting.
Later, Rictus would serve alongside Piltover's enforcers in enacting Caitlyn and Ambessa's agenda in finding and arresting Jinx. Patrolling a checkpoint, he forcibly removes a civilian's hat, revealing their blue hair, and makes an example out of them in front of the Zaunite crowd before he is interrupted by a disruption secretly caused by Isha. Rictus would then assist in the torture of that civilian to learn about Jinx's location, savagely beating them until they confess the rally would be held at Vander's statue. After this, he arrives with enforcers and Noxians to arrest and disrupt the rally, tearing apart Sevika's arm with a long-distance spear throw and arresting Zaunites en masse to bring to Stillwater.
After locating Caitlyn, Jinx, Vi, and Warwick, he attempts to strangle Caitlyn to death, but is stopped by Jinx, who begins to fight him. Rictus demonstrates superb fighting capabilities, as he gets the upper hand over Jinx and almost kills her, but Warwick shields Jinx from a blow that would have been fatal to her, but doesn't even scratch him. Glaring at Rictus, Warwick tells him "don't touch my daughter", and sends him flying out of a window.
After Warwick loses control after Viktor's death, Rictus tries to grab his weapon once again, but is stopped by the furious Warwick, who finishes Rictus off in a very bloody manner.
