Riddle Rosehearts

Villain Overview

Riddle Rosehearts (リドル・ローズハート) is a playable character in 2020 video game Disney: Twisted-Wonderland. He is a sophomore (2nd-year) student at Night Raven College and head of Heartslabyul dorm. He is based on the Queen of Hearts and Alice from Disney's Alice in Wonderland. He is a villainous character in Book 1 and a heroic character for the rest of the game.

He is voiced by Natsuki Hanae in Japanese and Paul Castro Jr. in the English dub of the anime adaptation. As a child, he is voiced by Miyuki Satō in Japanese and Liam Karlsson in the English dub of the anime adaptation.

Biography[]

He comes from the Queendom of Roses and was born to powerful magicians. His parents, especially his mother, are overly harsh and restrictive in their parenting out of a belief that this will make Riddle a more capable magic user. Once he became friends with Trey Clover and Alchemiy Alchemievich "Chenya" Pinkar, he started desiring a less restrictive lifestyle but has not been able to oppose his overbearing mother. He is currently studying at Night Raven College and is the head of Heartslabyul dorm. He is stated to have earned this post by defeating the previous head in magical combat.

Book 1[]

In the days leading up to an Unbirthday party at Heartslabyul dorm, he uses his unique magic Off with Your Head to disable Ace Trappola's magic for a prolonged period of time for stealing his dessert. During this time, there are complaints from other Heartslabyul students about Riddle's brutal management and rules-obsessed behavior. Trey Clover leads Ace and a group of other students to bake another pastry for Riddle as apology, but Riddle angrily rejects it for violating a rule. This leads all other students to finally call him out for his abusive behavior. Riddle suffers an anger-fueled breakdown and reaches overblot, but is defeated quickly after. He reveals his past, and other students convince him to loosen up.

Personality[]

Riddle is studious, disciplined and short-tempered. He's infamous for his obsession with strictly following rules in every aspect of life regardless of how nonsensical or unnecessary they are, especially ancient Queen of Hearts laws, and expecting his dormmates to do the same. This is due to an extremely restrictive upbringing where he was deprived of childhood pleasures and harshly punished for disobedience. On one hand, he outwardly expresses agreement with the harsh upbringing imposed on him as for his own good, but on the other hand, he admits that he wants a less restrictive lifestyle where he can enjoy things such as sweets.

Unique Magic[]

Off with Your Head (首をはねろ(オフ・ウィズ・ユアヘッド), Japanese for "behead them", "off with their head"): When cast on any magic user, the target will be unable to use magic until the curse is lifted. The spell also spawns a heart-shaped collar around the neck of the cursed target.
