the ringmaster appearing in the book pinocchio's promise

The ringmaster is a greedy man who captures children as donkeys (not specified, however, if he's aware they are children turned into donkeys). He is a visitor of Toyland and appears in Collodi's fairy tale, The Adventures of Pinocchio. The ringmaster serves as a minor villain.

Personality[]

The ringmaster is a very cruel man who likes to capture children-turned-donkeys, and treat them as his slaves, such as Pinocchio. If Pinocchio did the tricks wrong or incorrectly, the ringmaster whips him abusively with his whip.

History[]

When Pinocchio has turned to a donkey, the Coachman sells it to the circus and its ringmaster. In the stable, he gets several whippings from the ringmaster after complaining about eating hay and straw. Inside the circus, the ringmaster makes Pinocchio do tricks for three months. During the great circus performance, while performing his tricks to the audience, he sees the Fairy, and tries to call out, but brays instead, causing the ringmaster to whip him on the nose. After attempting to jump into the ring of fire, he sprained his leg and became lame. The ringmaster, thinking he has no use of Pinocchio now, sells Pinocchio to a man who wants to skin him and make his skin a drum. The ringmaster is never seen again.

Adoptions[]

Golden Films[]

The ringmaster appears in the film when Pinocchio turns into a donkey. His role is the same, but there are two differences. He tells Pinocchio to dive into a bucket and jump through a ring of fire. He later releases Pinocchio to the sea as punishment. He was voiced by Jim Cummings.
