Hi. This is Thesecret1070. I am an admin of this site. Edit as much as you wish, but one little thing... If you are going to edit a lot, then make yourself a user and login. Other than that, enjoy Villains Wiki!!!
RussellRogers, also known as RipRoar, is an antagonist in season 5 of the CW television series Supergirl.
He was a mindless assassin of the organization Leviathan, until he was killed for failing to flood the world's coastal cities with an enormous tidal wave. He was also the former boyfriend of billionaire Andrea Rojas and an old friend of CatCo reporter, William Dey.
He was portrayed by Nick Sagar, who also portrayed Victor Aldertree in the Freeform television series Shadowhunters.
Russell Rogers was a research scientist who worked on medical advancements to help people come back from the brink of death and possible more. He began dating Andrea Rojas and fell madly in love with her, but grew suspicious when she started hiding things from him. One evening, Russell is attacked in Andrea's home by Leviathan operatives for getting too close to the truth. Margot Morrison ordered her men to finish Russell off and make it look like a home invasion, but Andrea convinces them to let him live and serve Leviathan instead. Russell is then placed in a high tech prototype suit of armor that adheres to his body and mind, allowing Leviathan to control Russell's every thought. He is given the code name Rip Roar and presumed dead by his close friend, William Dey.
A few years later, Russell as Rip Roar breaks into Fort Summit to steal an unknown weapon from Lex Luthor's vault and kills a military soldier. The item is later identified as a Marathon Laser capable of firing a concentrated heat beam from an exponential distance. After meeting with Morrison, Russell infiltrates a satellite station in New Mexico and escapes with a particle amplifier which he combines with the laser to create a device that Brainiac 5 refers to as a Fusion Cannon.
Russell then travels to Antarctica to melt the ice cap around Lake Vostok, to unleash a flood that mankind hadn't seen since Noah's Ark. Supergirl and Martian Manhunter arrive at the research facility in Lake Vostok but they are too late to stop Rip Roar. The heroes are able to seal the geyser by flying around it together in perfect sync before Supergirl is able to freeze it with her super-breath. Rip Roar is apprehended and brought to the DEO where they confirm he is actually Russell Rogers.
Rip Roar later escapes with the help of Andrea Rojas only to be shot and killed by Leviathan, deemed no longer useful. His body is found by D.E.O. Director Alex Danvers and Querl-Dox who are nearly killed after Rip Roar's body explodes.
Trivia[]
In the DC comics Rip Roar is a four-armed alien New God of the planet Apokolips, while in Supergirl he is human who sports a bio-tech suit equipped with an extra pair of mechanical arms.
This version of Rip Roar takes inspiration from Marvel's Doctor Octopus, both are scientists who are transformed into cybernetic supervillains and control retractable tentacles that are grafted onto their bodies.
His backstory is also eerily similar to the Winter Soldier, as both characters are presumed dead by their friends and family when in reality they are abducted by an evil organization and brainwashed into becoming their personal assassin.
