~ The Ripley 2000 Manager before selling Gumball, Darwin, and Richard a shredder. |
The Ripley 2000 Manager is a minor antagonist in the Cartoon Network animated sitcom The Amazing World Of Gumball. He first appears in and is the main antagonist of "The Refund." As his title suggests, he is the manager of a video game store named Ripley 2000, where he enforces a strict “no refunds” policy. He also employs Larry Needlemeyer as his cashier.
He is voiced by Dan Russell, who also voiced Tina Rex, Donut Cop, Hobo, and Mr. Chanax in the same series.
Appearance[]
He appears as a small, teddy-bear like figure. He has a large, round head with large, sparkling lavender eyes, prominent eyelashes, and pink blush on his cheeks. His body is also round and plump, with short, stubby limbs, and he has fair skin. He wears a lavender suit with a hood and a pink tie.
Personality[]
He is quite the greedy individual, as he strictly adheres to a "no refunds" policy, which he claims to defend as a matter of principle. He also discourages the Watterson brothers, Gumball and Darwin, from leaking footage of him attacking their father Richard so that his shop won't be closed, and he will continue making money. Additionally, when someone tries to take money from the cash register, it sends the store into lockdown with an alarm and a closing metal gate. Though it later appears that he is trying to make amends with them by acting friendly and giving them a mere 1% discount on a video game console, it is later revealed that he simply sold them a shredder.
He also acts quite abusively towards Larry, as he has a camera monitoring him whenever he is at work in case he slips up, particularly on the aforementioned "no refunds" policy. He also makes Larry take his suit to the dry cleaners and walk his dogs, all without appreciation or due credit, as he hangs up abruptly after arguing that one of his dogs biting Larry and resulting in his tardiness was only the fault of his employee. While Larry makes it seem as though his manager is a malevolent and scary individual, the reveal of his cutesy appearance and fairly pathetic attempts at antagonizing Richard by climbing on him, biting him, and slapping him prove otherwise (though Richard still ends up defeated).
