~ Leader. |
Rita Iizumi, commonly known as Leader, is a major antagonist in the A Certain Magical Index franchise.
She is the leader of the mercenary group from the dark side called "Scavenger", serving as their tactician. She holds a grudge against most of the authority figures in Academy City, desiring to wipe them all out.
She's voiced by Akane Fujita in Japanese and Felecia Angelle in English (the latter also voices Shalltear Bloodfallen in Overlord, Raynare in High School DxD, Perona in One Piece, and Frill in Wonder Egg Priority).
Appearance[]
Leader is a young girl with short red hair and red eyes. She wears a white flu mask with two dark crossed hands printed on it. She also wears a short-sleeved shirt, shorts, mismatched black tights and a backpack.
Personality[]
Leader's most notable trait is her immense hatred of teachers, viewing them as the source of all evil in Academy City. She is very ruthless and vicious, showing virtually no remorse when doing her job of killing people and destroying things, even taking joy in it. Leader is also quite willing to eliminate anyone who stands in the way or anyone she deems as "teacher's pets". Despite her cruelty, Leader demonstrates calm and rational thinking during missions and dosen't jump head first into a fight without properly assessing the situation. However, like her comerades, Leader tends to get rather excitable has a habit of recruiting anyone who looks promising or she has taken a liking to, as shown by her trying to recruit Accelerator despite being his enemy.
In addition to this, Leader is somewhat delusional and arrogant, having a warped sense of justice. She claims that her main goal is to better the world by eliminating the scum within it. Her ultimate goal is to take down the principal of Academy City (Aleister Crowley) in order to make Academy City a better place to live. However, despite her confidence, Leader tends to panic in bad situations, particular when it involves a Level 5 esper. Upon learning that they just picked a fight with Accelerator, Leader loses her usual calmness and freeze in place, unable to come up with any strategy against the strongest esper. She also wets herself before losing consciousness.
Moreover, in spite of her vicious nature, Leader isn't without her soft side. She is shown to genuinely care about her comrades and has an actual friendship with each of them. Furthermore, due to Mikoto showing concern and kindness to her while she was pretending to be a Judgement member, Leader decides to aid Mikoto after Scavenger gets signed off for their job by saving Ryoko's life and helping Mikoto in her final battle against the Doppelganger. She also develops a fondness for Gekota merchandise after working with Mikoto.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]

Leader using Predator
- Predator: Leader's Level 3 esper power which allows her to locate her target by projecting multiple imaginary eyes in the sky. Predator grants Iizumi a bird's eye view across a vast radius and is seemingly adjustable as she could focus her vision on her targets to make out specific details of their current location and actions. The only downside is that she needs to cover one of her eyes before she can activate it and it's less effective during the day.
Abilities[]
- Keen Intellect: Due to her esper ability's lack of combat purpose, Iizumi serves as Scavenger's strategist and brainpower. She is quite intelligent and tactical, able to assess any given situation with proper planning. She also proves to rather deceptive, as she was able to spin a decent narrative about Scavenger being Judgement members to a disbelieving Mikoto Misaka and covering for any point it looks like the lie is about to come undone. She was also able to accurately track the falling Ryouko Kuriba when the latter tried to kill herself to apprease her doppelganger, noting the minute changes in her trajectory as she guide Seike and Naru toward Ryouko's cordinates during their rescue.
