Biography[]
Rob Titchener moved to Ambridge in January 2013 to run the Borchester Land dairy farm. In July of the same year, Helen Archer began a relationship with him, despite him being married. Three months later, Rob ended the relationship to try to settle down with his wife Jess (Rina Mahoney), who moved to Ambridge on 31 October but left for Hampshire in December, leaving Rob. Helen resumed her relationship with Rob on 1 January 2014. During their engagement, Jess had a baby, who she claimed was Rob's, until she agreed to a DNA test, which proved otherwise, leading to their divorce.
Rob and Helen secretly married on the Isle of Wight in August 2015. At this point, Rob revealed himself to be manipulative and abusive, isolating Helen from friends and family and using gaslighting techniques. He also planned to send Henry to boarding school without informing Helen, with the help of his mother Ursula (played by Carolyn Jones), who was also a victim of coercive control by Rob's father Bruce (Michael Byrne).
In April 2016, after the secret intervention of her friend Kirsty Miller, Helen met Jess, who revealed the true nature of her marriage to Rob. In a moment of clarity, Helen stabbed Rob after he put a knife in her hand, causing her to commit suicide. Rob survived the encounter. Rob and his mother subsequently tricked Pat and Tony into gaining custody of Henry, forcing them into a lengthy legal battle.
After an intense trial, the truth about Rob's abusive nature was revealed publicly, including the accusation of raping Helen; Helen was acquitted of both attempted murder and grievous bodily harm. Rob became a pariah in the village, with Usha evicting him, Oliver banning him from hunting, and the local shops refusing to do business with him. It was also revealed that the previous year, while manager of the mega-dairy, Rob had blocked a culvert, causing a flood in Ambridge that nearly led to the death of his boss.
After his new boss, Justin Elliott, discovered this information, Rob was fired. After a failed attempt to kidnap his son, Rob disappeared, reportedly leaving for Minneapolis, where he had previously worked. In mid-2023, he reappeared in Ambridge, seemingly intent on gaining access to Jack, but was revealed to have a terminal illness, dying in the winter of that year.
