“ | So, listen up. An ex-CIA operative named Robert Aldrich has gone rogue. Langley believes this asshole is working with Perseus to assemble a spy ring inside US borders. | „ |
~ Lawrence Sims briefing on Robert Aldrich. |
Special Officer Robert Aldrich is a supporting antagonist in the 2020 first person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. He is an ex-CIA agent who joined the KGB and Perseus and was assembling a spy ring to invade the United States. Depending on the player's choice, Aldrich can be left alive to continue his spy ring or eliminated by the CIA to cripple Perseus's network.
Biography[]
Background[]
Robert Aldrich joined the Central Intelligence Agency at an unknown time, but it can be assumed that he joined the agency during the 1960s or the 1970s. It's also possible that Aldrich was associated with fellow agents Alex Mason and Frank Woods, as Mason's shows disbelief that Aldrich would betray the CIA. Before 1981, Aldrich went rogue and was put on the KGB's payroll, becoming their informant and later became associated with Perseus. Aldrich would join Perseus's spy network and became the leader of sleeper agent organization that was stationed across the United States. When Perseus planned to use American nukes to destroy Europe, Aldrich was present at the meeting alongside KGB Major Vadim Rudnik, Russian mafia boss Anton Volkov, Iranian terrorist Arash Kadivar, and Perseus's right-hand lieutenant. Langley would believe that Aldrich was working with Perseus and helping him create a spy ring while on American soil and would try to hunt him down to cripple Perseus's network.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War[]
At the CIA safehouse, the player can look at Operation Chaos and Sims will inform them that a source has found Aldrich moving across Colorado and New Mexico with Spetsnaz. However, Sims informs the player that they need evidence to locate the city of the spies, which can be find in the missions "Nowhere Left to Run", "Brick in the Wall", and "Redlight, Greenlight". Bell can find the numbers station broadcast by finding Lukas Richter's location, and collecting the file from the Stasi police, and the front-page observer by gathering of all of the photos in "Redlight, Greenlight".
Operation Chaos[]
If "Bell" managed to collect the evidence from operations and solved them, Mason and Woods are sent to eliminate Aldrich. When the CIA intercept Aldrich's convoy, he proceeds to flee to a near gas station and into a motel while Spetsnaz soldiers protect him from Mason and Woods. Despite his attempts to evade the CIA, Mason and Woods eliminate the rogue agent, and Mason takes a photo of Aldrich to confirm to the CIA that he is dead.
Bell's Interrogation[]
When "Bell" is interrogated by Russell Adler, Aldrich appears in the memory of the meeting with "Perseus".
