Robert Otto is the main antagonist of the Amphibia episode "Spider-Sprig". He is a Los Angeles safety officer who grew vengeful at Sprig Plantar/"Frog-Man" for overshadowing him, and briefly became a supervillain in an attempt to destroy him.
He was voiced by Brad Garrett, who also portrayed Spike in Mighty Max, Joe Bulo in Fargo, Krang in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, Tony Abado in Seinfeld, Earl Raymond in Recess, Uto in Tarzan II, Torque in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, The Giant in Hoodwinked Too, Ernst Strepfinger in Ozzy and Drix, and Gary Munson in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.
Biography[]
Robert has been the neighborhood's "protector" for years, though many of the kids found him to be annoying. When Sprig spoke with him for the first time, Robert was not pleased that someone else was trying to protect the neighborhood, and told him to leave. Before Sprig could reason with him, they both noticed a runaway school bus going down a hill and tried to stop it. Robert failed to do so, but Sprig managed to save all of the citizens in the bus, including Molly Jo, Robert's granddaughter. This resulted in the community respecting him and Robert hating him.
Sprig continued to save people in the city, and as the adoration for him grew, so did Robert's hatred. While in a junkyard, he noticed the Cloak-Bot's missing arm and decided to use its abilities to get revenge.
As Sprig was being adored, Robert attacked him with the arm and chased him through the city in an attempt to kill him. He caused a lot of destruction while doing so, nearly resulting in his granddaughter being harmed. Sprig managed to save her, causing Robert to appreciate his action, but Molly Jo berated them for causing so much destruction.
Realizing their mistake, both Robert and Sprig work together to repair the city. After Sprig left, a police officer told Robert that he was still going to arrest him, which he accepted.
Trivia[]
