Robert Paul Byers, mainly known by his online alias of Northstar, is the main antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode “Silent night, hateful night”. He is a xenophobe who organizes a series of terrorist attacks.
History[]
On Christmas Eve, he organizes a series of xenophobic attacks on Jews and Muslims. A synagogue's windows are destroyed by rocks, a man is stabbed in the back by a guy on a motorcycle, halal restaurants and buildings are firebombed, and several people are assaulted; summarizing up to 9 attacks. Jahrique, a black kid, threw rocks at the synagogue under the orders of a random man, and his friends assisted him.
Robert then orders the bombing of a mosque and the attempted bombing at a Jewish old age home, which fortunately didn't activate. Darko Pavik, an accomplice for Paul is then shot several times for being a “traitor”. Rollins pretends to be racist and asks to take care of Darko’s dog. After entering the apartment, they find several bombs, grenades, and missiles in a secret compartment. Darko finally reveals his alias of “North Star” and the SVU and multiple other NYPD groups find a camera that shows Robert Paul and his accomplices.
Antonio Suarez is caught by the police, and afraid of the death penalty, he reveals the location of the 4 missing bombs. Eventually it is found out that the bombs are going to be used at a the Washington square park Christmas tree for a “mass causality event”. Tom Nolan is then lured by Suarez and Nolan tells Benson about her credit card info. Robert and Tom’s wife are found at the Christmas tree and Robert attempts to blow up the bomb, only to be shot by Olivia Benson
