~ Roberto Arnoldi introduces himself |
Roberto Arnoldi is a major antagonist of the LEGO Nexo Knights TV series, appearing in its third and fourth seasons. He is an outcast sculptor, ridiculed by King Halbert for making an unappealing statue of his wife. Reduced to sculpting lawn gnomes to earn for his living, he eventually crossed ways with Jestro and Monstrox, who promised him a chance at getting back at the king in exchange for his help.
He was voiced by Vincent Tong.
Biography[]
Roberto Arnoldi used to be a famous sculptor who worked in Knighton. He was commissioned by King Halbert to create a "smashing" statue of Queen Halbert. Arnoldi took his request literally and made a statue of the queen smashing monsters. While the queen liked his work, the king was enraged and banished the sculptor. As such, all Arnoldi could do to earn money was carving lawn gnomes and selling them on the roadside.
One day, Jestro and the Cloud of Monstrox were passing Roberto's workplace and stopped by. Having heard the sculptor's backstory and learned of his abilities, Monstrox realized he could use Arnoldi to fill his forces with new Stone Monsters. As such, the villains ordered him to make new statues, which he misheard as "numb". Since then, he became one of Monstrox's highest-ranking minions, following him and Jestro on various missions and creating new monsters to fight Nexo Knights with. Eventually, he took part in Monstrox's final assault on the kingdom, which ended up a failure, with Monstrox seemingly destroyed for good. Roberto Arnoldi and Jestro were then arrested and sentenced to community service.
Personality[]
Perhaps one of Arnoldi most famous traits, it also being his weakness, is his literal-mindness. He has a hard time understanding metaphors, as such, he interprets the order to build a "smashing" statue as depicting someone smashing something, a command to "get rolling" as building a vehicle with wheels.
Roberto is proud of his creations, and rightfully so, as some of them, such as the Rolling Headquarters, are very complex and multi-functional despite being made fully out of stone. Sadly, he is rarely appreciated for his work either due to the customers finding out he misinterpreted their orders or other mistakes he's made. This ultimately came back to bite King Halbert, whose banishment of the sculptor ultimately drove him to villainy.
Roberto had also proved himself to be extremely vengeful, as he was ready to help Monstrox destroy the entirety of Knighton just to get back at its king, and unlike Jestro, showed no remorse for his actions.
Trivia[]
- He speaks with an Italian accent and occasionally uses Italian words in his speech.
- Despite having a major role in the TV series, no minifigure of him had ever been released in LEGO sets or otherwise.
