~ Robo-Robotnik v.1.0 to Sonic Prime. |
Robo-Robotnik v.1.0, commonlyknown as just Robo-Robotnik, is a minor antagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series by Archie Comics. He is Dr. Robotnik's counterpart from a parallel universe, where he roboticized himself in order to defeat his versions of Freedom Fighters. After achieving victory in his reality, he went on to threaten the entire multiverse.
Biography[]
At some point during his war with the Freedom Fighters, Robotnik managed to roboticize them, but the process was faulty, allowing his enemies to retain their free will. They attempted to take Robotnik down once and for all, and to have a fighting chance, the evil doctor roboticized himself. He managed to destroy all Cyborg Freedom Fighters except for Sonic, and was ultimately successful in conquering his zone. He then turned his attention to the other zones, invading Mobius Prime with his army of Shadow SWATbots. Seeing that Sonic Prime had gathered Sonics from all over the multiverse, he decided that it would save him trouble of tracking them down, but was caught by surprize when his Prime counterpart sent his SWATbots to fight his army, and left the zone for the time being.
Robo-Robotnik searched for the artifact known as the Giant's Hand, and summoned Evil Sonic to assist him. The hedgehog stole the artifact from under his Prime counterpart's nose. Though Evil Sonic was captured, Robo-Robotnik located and retrieved the Giant's Hand, using it to create a mech suit called the Giant Borg, and set out to destroy all Sonics. With their combined efforts, however, Sonics of the multiverse managed to take the Giant Borg down, and Robo-Robotnik was left nothing but a disembodied head, after which Cyborg Sonic took him back to their home zone.
Trivia[]
- Some argue that this version of Robo-Robotnik is the same as the one who debuted in Sonic the Hedgehog #22 and went on to replace the original Dr. Robotnik. Former writer Ken Penders, who wrote both stories, confirmed on his website the two were in fact the same person, which was later clarified by Sonic the Hedgehog #75 and Dr. Eggman's Data File from Sonic the Hedgehog #108. There are some inconsistensies risen by this, however (for example, the Freedom Fighters' fate differs greatly, with all of them surviving instead of Sonic only, and Robotnik Prime seems to treat the two Robo-Robotniks as different people), because of which Ian Flynn considers the two separate characters.
