Robotnik Intelligence Agency, or R.I.A. for short, are major antagonists in the Sonic Underground series. They are the intelligence service of Robotnik Empire, spying on the citizens of Mobius and searching for dissidents and rebels. Robotnik's bounty hunter Sleet treats them as rivals.
History[]
Dr. Robotnik forced a wealthy man LaTour to work for R.I.A. by making spy robots disguised as watches for them. If he refused, the authorities would confiscate all of his and his daughter's valuables. The scheme was overseen by the R.I.A. Agent N. When the Sonic Underground uncovered said scheme and convinced LaTours to run away and join the Resistance, Agent N kidnapped first Manic and Sonia, then the LaTours, who were earlier captured by Sleet and Dingo. Sonia was the first in line for roboticization, but Sonic managed to save everyone captured and dismantle Agent N with the reprogrammed spy-watches.
