Biography[]
KGF[]
Rocky was born on the day the the political don Suryavardhan founded the KGF's political company Narachi, when the first lump of gold was unearthed from the ground. His mother and her people lived in the slums of Karnataka in poverty, and she worked hard to raise Rocky even to the point of eventual death by sickness. The death of his mother left Rocky bitter and in grief. Before she died, she made Rocky swear to him that he will never show weakness and that he will go out from the world being rich or otherwise powerful.
Despite continuing to live poor, Rocky's life changes when he discovers work with one of Narachi's underbosses Shetty. He assaults a police inspector in a show of power to prove his worth to Shetty, and he since becomes self taught in hand to hand combat and weapon wielding. Rocky grows up to be the most feared man in the city, and popular among people living under Shetty's dominion for killing rival gangsters and gold smugglers who challenged him in mass numbers.
Rocky's reputation is so dangerous that even police bow before him, by both him and out of fear of being assaulted by the government controlled Narachi company, as Shetty and his men begin to fear Rocky and plan to dispose off him. Rocky's activities attracts attention by Andrews, one of the high ranking associates of Narachi. He agrees to pay Rocky handsomely for killing Garuda, in order to rule Narachi. Andrews' allies, Rajendra Desai and Desai's foster son Kamal, have their men assist Rocky to travel to Garuda's headquarters.
Garuda however, sees the assassination coming and has his guards surround Rocky when he unveils the statue of himself, as a display of power. Garuda decides to spare his life, possibly to see a bigger challenge from him. This is when Rocky becomes more dedicated to killing him and decides to smuggle himself into the heart of the KGF. He finds government authorized trucks abducting civilians for slavery and travels aboard, and chaining himself to pose as a slave. As Rocky lives as one of the KGF's slaves, he begins to demonstrate small amounts of sympathy towards them, seeing how they live not only poorly but also under constant control and abuse by Narachi guards. The guards also kill anyone who becomes injured or is otherwise crippled for sport, even women and children.
Rocky however mostly prioritizes finding a way to get out, not to help the slaves but to get close to Garuda. He actually shoves one of the slaves when he begs Rocky to find a way to free them. The same slave, who has a wife and child imprisoned with him, sacrifices himself in an attempt to kill Garuda when he visits the mines one day, as female babies are executed by the guards. Rocky receives backlash from the slaves. He is initially unbothered but appears to have a change of heart when a blind slave is suddenly caught and taken to the mines to be shot for sport. Rocky takes a stand as the first "slave" to strike at the Narachi guards. He grabs a mining hammer and beats up the guards before going into the mine and stealthily killing all the guards but the leader. He drags the leader out in chains, and the slaves stamp their tools into the ground to vote that he should be killed, a tradition the guards did with the slaves. Rocky smashes the leader's head with the hammer in front of the slaves.
Despite the single act of sympathy, Rocky goes right back to the goal of killing Garuda. He does it however at a ritualistic sacrifice conducted by Garuda to the goddess Durga, taking place before the slaves as three suspects of rebellion are beheaded in a blood sacrifice. One of them turns out to be Rocky, who turned himself in. He diverts Garuda's reinforcement, his uncle Adheera and his guards, and slips out of his restraints before beheading Garuda with his own sword. The slaves look up to and praise him, and Rocky takes it as his first step to become almighty powerful. One of the Narachi enforcers, Vanaram, surrounds Rocky with his four hundred guards preparing to shoot him before the movie ends.
KGF: Chapter 2[]
After Rocky kills Garuda, the slaves assault Vanaram's men to prevent them from shooting Rocky.
After months Rocky assumes control of KGF after killing Garuda's brother Virat. He arrogantly rubs it in the faces of the other associates of Narachi (Rajendra Desai, Andrews, Kamal, Daya and Guru Pandian). But when Rocky demands to take Rajendra Desai's daughter Reena as his wife, Reena's brother Kamal gets angered and threatens Rocky, causing Rocky to execute Kamal on the sopt. The associates leave distraught that a mercenary is controlling their company, and decide that they need to kill Rocky immediately. They summon the Narachi general Adheera, who sends an army into KGF to storm it. Andrews kills Rajendra Desai to draw Reena out, and enforcer John abducts her. They draw Rocky into a trap and Adheera snipes him. He barely leaves Rocky alive hoping to break the spirit of the slaves who now live with him in KGF.
Rocky however survives and travels to Dubai where he meets Inaiyat Khalil and orders his men to wipe out Shetty's men while he's there. He regains control of the West Coast and buys soviet firearms from Khalil, using them to arm the slaves and and shoot down Adheera's ambushing troops. Rocky proceeds to tend to the population of KGF, and Reena falls for him seeing his good side.
Rocky vows to protect the population and treat them better than Garuda, but must hide them from the world for their safety as Ramika Sen is targetting KGF. Over the course of years Rocky turns KGF into a literal city using the gold profits and becomes the king. On the day that Reena announces pregnancy, she is sniped by Adheera and killed, as he infiltrates the mine with help from Andrews.
A blood lustful Rocky fights Adheera and is nearly killed, but he recovers his hammer and breaks Adheera's sword, engaging in a fist fight and eventually putting Adheera in a chokehold, breaking his neck. Soon afterwards, Rocky learns of Pandian's involvement in Adheera's attack as he attacks the Parliament in vengeance, killing Pandian after a brutal fight with the guards, and putting the fear in Ramika Sen. Feeling distraught by Reena's death, Rocky sends a fax to the navies of India, Indonesia, and America while taking his gold to sea. Under Ramika's orders, the navy terminates Rocky and KGF, causing him to drown with the gold and be lost to history. Rocky's tales are written in Anaand Ingalagi's book El Dorodo.
Personality[]
Rocky has lead a normal life up until his mother died, after which his personality becomes cold and concerned towards his own life. He is exposed to the concept of greed early, when his mother asks him to promise not to die weak and powerless. He learns from beggars and thieves that money is what runs the world, and starts looking for ways to earn it. He starts working as a shoe polisher in the city district that Shetty runs when he overhears Shetty's conflict with the police. Rocky, who's just a little boy, assaults the inspector and kills him by smashing his head with a bottle, showing no remorse or hesitance. He actually goes back to find him bleeding to strike him again, but this time by saying his nickname. He is saved by Shetty's guards from the police and he admires his courage.
Rocky ends up spending the next many years killing rival smugglers, gangsters, and anyone who rivals Shetty, and has no hesitance to kill them as bloodily or torturously as possible. He especially likes it when his victims beg for life and will sometimes joke about it before mutilating them into a bloody mess. The only people Rocky has shown remorse or any sense of compassion towards would be women and children, particularly people in poverty as he was. He has shown this when he threatened civilians with a gun when they prevented a poor woman from getting food. He has also demonstrated a potential path of redemption when he saved the slaves from Narachi, but it's not known if this was done for them or just to get an army to conquer the company.
Powers and Abilities[]
Rocky is self taught in combat and is skilled in it, weapon usage, and possesses superhuman strength.
Trivia[]
- Rocky is actually partially inspired by a real life 1990's gangster named Thangam, who also lived in poverty and had desires to become well known out of fear. However, Thangam has no connection to the KGF.
- Rocky's life story is the main topic of the fictional book El Dorado, named after the mythical location harboring large amounts of gold. In the KGF universe, it covers Rocky's rule from 1978-81 and was published in 2018. KGF is also a real mining site and the version in the movie takes loose inspiration from El Dorodo.
- Rocky was 31 years old in the second movie, which takes place in 1981. If he lived up to 2022, he would be 72.
- Rocky is seemingly killed in the second movie, however since there will be a third he likely survived.
- All of the songs in the movies including Salaam Rocky Bhai, Dheera Dheera, Sulthana, Toofan, and Monster are focused on Rocky and praise him as a mythologized chosen hero, a common trope in Indian cinema.
- The plot of Chapter 3 will be focused on Rocky's international crimes. It's unknown if he faked his death or not.
