Amenti[]
During the great drought in Ancient Egypt, a group of highly advanced aliens came to the rescue and used their advanced terraforming technology to manipulate the weather and landscape to make Egypt become livable to the Egyptians. The Egyptians worshiped the aliens as Star Gods with many generation of Pharaoh became the emissaries of these aliens.
After Pharaoh Rodamon died, he was stated to transcend to the realm of the "star gods". It was also stated that He and his Queen, Meretankhar, held a sacred bond with these "star gods". When Rodamon was put to rest it was said that anyone who disturbed his tomb would awaken the wrath of his spirit and the star gods that is said to bring on a curse of agony and death with the divine vengeance being swift and merciless. Though Rodamon and Meretankhar don't seem to try to kill the player immediately, showing a more sadistic side to the royal couple. The curse had led to the deaths and disappearances of many explorers and archeologists throughout the ages and eventually in modern time, Rodamon's tomb was sealed off by the Egyptian government to prevent further incidents. As the result, entering his tomb becomes illegal.
Photographer Ethan Carter who in needs of career advancement foolishly enters the tomb and is trapped by Rodamon and Meretankhkar restless spirit in a pocket dimension that seems to teleport him in different timeline. Eventually, Carter is trapped in dimension of the aliens who once helped the Egyptians instead of suffering a gruesome death like his predecessor. It is unknown what the aliens plan to do with Carter.
Trivia[]
- Rodamon and Meretankhkar's method of killing intruders as seen by what they do if Ethan gets too close to either one of them, is to brutally pummel them to death with their fists. Interestingly, Rodamon requires multiple punches to kill intruders while his wife only needs one slap to kill intruders. Meretankhkar's method seem to be more brutal since those that are on the receiving ends of her blow often crying and whimpering in agony before their death, while Rodamon often puts the intruders into a headlock makes quick works on the intruders by beating them down.
- Both him and his wife are very tall as they tower above Ethan. Especially given that Rodamon had to lean his head down slightly when he walked passed the doorframe after Ethan had grabbed the ankh from an empty tomb, though this could be because crown, however rodamon's shoulders were close to the top of the doorframe. As Rodamon and Meretankhar advance towards Ethan in the last sequence, we can see that Ethan is looking up at both of them even without crouching.
- Queen Meretankhar has noticeable blood splatters on her chest and on her face, unlike Rodamon who doesn't seem to have any blood on him at all. This could either mean that it came from her sickness (unlikely due to the fact that the blood looks like it splattered on her as well as her remains not having any signs of blood at all) or she may have been the one to kill any previous explorers that invaded her husband's tomb, thus making her potentially more dangerous and aggressive than Rodamon.
- Unlike Rodamon, Queen Meretankhkar refused mumification as she does not trust the aliens and had dreams of Rodamon suffering in pain in the afterlife. As the result, she died sitting in her chair in the tomb, succumbing to her illness.
- They have shown to have multiple mummies as their servants and guardians of their tombs. These mummies will attack and kill intruders when the royal couple are not around. Their methods of killing intruders is strangulation.
- It isn't fully known what Queen Meretankhar does when there is no intruder. As stated before she refused mummification, thus her soul cannot move onto the afterlife, it can be assumed that she simply wanders the hallways given what her will states and that one of the trailers show her just standing in the darkest corners whilst looking down.
- Rodamon's crown looks identical to that of Nefertiti's (The Great Royal queen of Egypts 18th dynasty)
- It could be said that Rodamon is rather mischievous with how he decides to toy with Ethan by blowing out candles as he collects artifacts and read's inscriptions, walking about before eventually jump scaring Ethan. What we can take from this is that Rodamon is quite the prankster.
