Roger DeSalvo is the main antagonist of the Community episode "Grifting 101". He is a con artist who tried to steal money from Greendale students.
He was portrayed by Matt Berry who also played King Poseidon in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge On The Run, Douglas Reynholm from The IT Crowd, The Butt Witch in Twelve Forever and Allen, from Aqua Teen Hyper Force.
Biography[]
Roger DeSalvo took a job as a professor of Grifting at Greendale. He charged students an exorbitant amount of money for the class, and for briefcases to use for the class. The class itself was a sham and Roger just had students pass suitcases to one another. Jeff congratulated Roger on his plan, and revealed that he lied about being a lawyer. Roger said that he didn't consider that a real grift and found Jeff inferior. As revenge, Jeff joined the Save Greendale Committee in trying to grift Roger.During a grifting lesson, a fake telegram came for Elroy. Roger knew it was a fake and told him he knew Jeff was planning something. Roger then went to Britta's bar where the two of them made a plan to grift Greendale.
Roger walked in on the Committee planning a grift. He mocked them, causing Britta to hit him. he ran and pretended to fall down the stairs.Using his fake injuries, he made the school give him 50 thousand dollars in cash. He then met up with Britta to split the money, as per their plan. Britta then kissed him, allowing someone to switch the briefcases. He tried to chase down the real briefcases, but kept getting blocked by Greendale students. Eventually he caught up with everyone at the cafeteria, where the Dean, Frankie and a police officer were waiting. He told them about the stolen money, but it was clear his injuries were fake. Jeff popped up and informed Roger that he would either have to admit to being grifted, or pay back the school. Roger reluctantly admitted to being grifted, at which point the Dean fired him.
