~ Silver threatening his wife. |
Roger Silver is the main antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Unit episode "Disrobed". He is the abusive husband of Gina Silver who conspires with a corrupt judge to be released from prison so he can kill her.
He was portrayed by Jack Gwaltney.
Early life[]
Silver severely abused his wife Gina and their daughter Jillian, at one point hitting the former in the back and ribs with a ballpeen hammer. He was finally arrested after nearly killing Gina and sent to prison by Judge Warren Varella. Gina begged Varella to deny her husband parole, which Varella exploited this fear to force her to have sex him to keep Silver imprisoned. She is one of several women he extorted sexual favors from in return for ruling in their favor in parole hearings, albeit usually to let their husbands and boyfriends out of prison.
Eventually, Gina called off the arrangement. Unable to accept her rejection, Varella called the prison board for them to get Silver an early release from prison. Silver then began planning to kill Gina.
"Disrobed"[]
A week before Silver is set to be released, Gina murders Varella for getting Silver out of prison.
Detectives Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler of the NYPD's Special Victims Unit investigate Varela's murder and eventually discover that Gina killed him, and why. Benson and Stabler question Silver in prison a few days before he is to be released about his arrangement with Varela, but he denies any involvement, and makes a veiled threat to hurt Gina if she tries to stop him from "taking what's mine".
After Gina is granted immunity from prosecution in return for testifying about Varela's corruption, Silver breaks into her house and takes her hostage at gunpoint. Benson and Stabler arrive at the scene and try to negotiate with Silver to let Gina go, but he refuses, once again insisting that Gina belongs to him. He then prepares to shoot Gina, forcing Benson to shoot him in the head, killing him.
