“ | Well, well! Have a look at that! This is the true form of the Rokurokubi! Long ago, they looked a bit more like this... But they've changed with the passage of time. As have I, as you can see. | „ |
~ The Announcer introducing Rokurokubi. |
Rokurokubi is a punk-themed Youkai serving the Youkai Army Corps and a minor antagonist in Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, serving as the main antagonist of the 2nd episode.
She was voiced and played by Keiko Suzuka.
Biography[]
Past[]
Rokurokubi first came to be when humanity's negative emotions physically manifested and formed thier own group under the leadership of the most powerful of their kind; Daimaou. One thousand years ago, Rokurokubi was among the army of Yokai who attacked Ninjaman whilst he defended a village. Rokurokubi was evidently able to escape alive but Ninjaman was banished by the Three God Generals as he slaughtered his entire village after mistaking them for Yokai.
Rokurokubi was ultimately among the Yokai who managed to avoid being sealed behind the Seal Door by the Ancient Kakurangers but was reduced to a human form when the Yo Power is sealed with Daimaou. At some point, she met and fell in love with Kappa. Three years before the series, they had a child but he died from being poisoned by human love and kindness; driving Rokurokubi insane as she began searching for anyone that resembled him.
Kakuranger[]
By 1994, Rokurokubi has evolved into the form of a punk and works at an arcade with Kappa by the time that the Yo Power is released by her husband. After Kappa dodges Muteki Shogun's Blazing Shogun Sword, Rokurokubi's detached head meets up with him and he decides to withdraw so that he can spend time with her. Later, at the two Youkais' arcade, they lure one of Seikai's friends into the rear and keep Seikai busy with multiple Dorodoros posing as women. Due to being insane, Rokurokubi mistakes Seikai for being her son and tells her husband when he returns from buying cucumbers. Even though he initially refuses to help since they've done this several times, he relents since it will make her happy. After Kappa reveals that the Seal Door is open however, Seikai's friend discovers what they are and warns Seikai so the Youkai reveal themselves and decide to eat them instead. Although they corner the two in a warehouse yard, Saizou and Sasuke arrive so the Youkai assume thier true forms and attack with the Dorodoros. However, Sasuke is able to hold off the Youkai long enough for Seikai to escape in Nekomaru which is able to escape to the quarry even though Rokurokubi tries to pursue.
Frustrated, Kappa and Rokurokubi's head confront them in the quarry and summon Dorodoros with even Rokurokubi's body getting involved before her head attempts to strangle him. However, he morphs and throws her off so an enraged Kappa summons the Youkai Lightning Cloud to enlarge himself and his wife's head. Before he can step on them though, Sasuke returns from the Illusion Castle and uses a Shinobi Scroll to become Red Saruder to fight the Youkai. Despite this, Kappa and Rokurokubi manage to completely overwhelm and defeat the mecha until Rokurokubi's body is destroyed by Tsuruhime's K-Slash. Mortally wounded, Rokurokubi is thrown clear of Red Saruder and Kappa charges at it to avenge his wife only to be sliced in half and killed by Red Saruder's Saruder Slicer with Rokurokubi dying in his explosion.
Rokurokubi is recalled by the Announcer whilst recapping the Kakurangers' war against the Yokai during his feature on the Kakurangers.
Rokurokubi is seen, along with all the other defeated Yokai, dancing with Kappa behind the Seal Door after Daimaou is finally sealed away by the Kakurangers. Reeling that they are now powerless in captivity, the Yokai all vow that they will one day be reborn and regain their power, cursing humanity.
