Roland is one of the two main antagonists (alongside the Praya Dubia) of the 2024 video game Another Crab's Treasure.
He is a greedy business tycoon who is the owner, founder and CEO of Shellfish Corp.; the mayor of New Carcinia; as well as Firth's idol.
He was portrayed by Gianni Matragrano.
Appearance[]
Roland is an overweight Giant Isopod with greyish purple scales. He wears a suit made up of an old red sneaker, a pair of white trousers, black boots, and a top hat.
Biography[]
Past[]
At some point in time, Roland, the CEO of Shellfish Corp, became the mayor of New Carcinia. Based off of the townsfolk's feelings about him, it can be assumed that he is a tyrannical ruler and does not care about the wellbeing of the townsfolk, and also that they did not want him as mayor. His workers are neglected and left to be Gunked in Flotsam Vale, as they make him more and more microplastics. He also abuses an innocent childlike eel named Voltai to get electricity, and also to dispose of people he doesn't want, while Voltai thinks it's all a game, as she says that Kril is the only "playmate" to "stay awake" as long as he did. He likely adopted Inkerton, as he said that he found him on the seabed.
Another Crab's Treasure[]
He is introduced by interrupting the townsfolk talking about the treasure, before telling the townsfolk that he will take control of the hunt. Kril, not knowing who he is, says that he'll find the treasure, before Roland's "Right Claw", Inkerton attacks him and puts a party popper to his head. However, Roland decides he'll allow the townsfolk to search for the treasure.
After the map is completed, Roland appears to steal the map and search for the treasure on his barge, the Darkstar. After killing Voltai, Kril is able to power a boat for the townspeople to catch him and get the treasure. After sneaking onto the barge and a short platforming challenge, Roland traps the townsfolk and orders Inkerton to kill them, before Chitan intervenes and fights Inkerton. Roland then decides to try and kill Kril himself. After a boss fight, Roland is thrown off the barge. However, he grabs on to the treasure and rides back up, before ordering the workers from Flotsam Vale to attack. Kril is furious, and attacks Roland, causing the barge to fall into The Unfathom.
Near the end of The Unfathom, Roland is seen again wandering around with Inkerton, trying to find a way out. After shouting at Inkerton and telling him he should have "left him on the seabed where he found him", he is then shot by Inkerton, killing him.
Boss Fight[]
Roland's boss fight is a very difficult one, as his attacks are difficult to master and do lots of damage. His main methods of attack are using his cane to hit the player, rolling up into a ball and charging while bouncing off of the bumpers, and using all 6 of his arms, a cane in each, to rapidly attack you in a move similar to Malenia's infamous Waterfowl Dance. Thankfully, this won't heal him.
