Roland Von Buckingham is a member of the "Communion of Cellophane". He is a major antagonist and the first boss fight of the LISA: The Painful fangame LISA: The Pointless. He is a former failed politician acting as a spokesperson and the protector of Garbage Island.
Biography[]
LISA: The Pointless[]
Roland used to be a politician albeit an unsuccesful one. His failure was due to being very unpopular and unlikeable.
After an apocalyptic event known as "The Flash" killed all women on earth, Roland ended up in a place called "Garbage Island". He became a devoted member of the Communion of Cellophane. He was friends with Augustus Estrada, another resident of Garbage Island. He eventually acted as the guardian of the island, stopping anybody from leaving. Most residents of Garbage Island hate him because of this. He also likes to take care of the crows, which also makes people hate him due to the crows eating desiccated seagulls, their main source of food. The reason why many people stay at Garbage Island is because of his intimidating and scary figure.
After Alex Churchland survives being dumped in the mass graves and Joel Miller finds the bullet he's looking for, they want to leave Garbage Island with Georgy's boat. Roland doesn't understand why someone would leave his garbage paradise, and tries reasoning with them, but they are eager to leave. Roland then fights them. If they lose this fight and had helped Augustus before, he will come and help them, saying that he's ashamed that he ever stood up for Roland. Roland starts cying after hearing that. He eventually loses, but is determined, and doesn't let them leave even when he's on the brink of death. They eventually manage to beat him to death and leave.
After his death, the residents of Garbage Island start to question their garbage lifestyle and want to leave.
Appearance[]
Roland is a fat and ugly man. He has gray curly hair, tiny eyes and a big orange nose with big orange lips. He wears a brownish green poncho and black pants.
Personality[]
Privately, Roland is a shy person that likes taking care of crows. However he's also very conservative of the garbage lifestyle and oppressive to anyone that tries to leave, making a lot of people hate him.
Trivia[]
- He acts as a foil to Arnold. They are both the final force Alex and Joel have to face in order to leave Garbage Island and Downtown Olathe respectively. But while Roland is hated by everyone, Arnold is loved and admired. Roland is a heavy guy but fights with no technique, Arnold is a small man but is very skilled at boxing. Roland is very devoted to the Cellophane Communion and Arnold is just a vessel of the Infinity Franchise.
- His battle theme is Hernandez Ocean, which is an unused track in the original LISA: The Painful. His second and third phases also uses a slowed down version of the track.
