Roman Spezzano is the main antagonist of the “Camorra” arc of Law & Order: Organized Crime season 5. He is the ambitious fake leader of the Camorra Italian gang.
Biography[]
History[]
Roman was born to Isabella Spezzano, the sister of gang leaders and her brothers, mainly Rocco. Isabella, who recently murdered her husband tells Stabler that Rocco, her brother, is the leader of the Cammora. They are all put in witness protection and start a new life, with Rocco going to jail. It is implied that Roman was an enforcer for the gang as well.
Later in his life, Roman was threatened by Rocco (who wasn’t in really in prison), to join the gang or else he and his family would be killed. He became a high ranking member and ran soilders and a warehouse. Unbeknownst to all, he was not the true leader, but a mere pawn to both Rocco and his right-hand, Lucia, a nun who brought the kids into the gang.
Paranza Dei Bambini[]
While at his trial, Carlo Pescador gets off as every witness towards him was either intimidated or dead from his fentanyl dealings. As he celebrates, a man dressed as the Balif (who he killed) murders Carlo before running away, where Stabler shoots him. After the murder, we receive a flashback of Stabler talking to Isabella. In the future, she denies that neither she or her children have any involvement with the gang. To get rid of loose ends, he orders witnesses and their families murdered. Bryanna and Kiki Pescador are asked to tell the truth why they lied and they respond by saying that their brothers have both been killed by car bombs, so they are reasonably next. While talking to Isabella, Stabler is told that Roman is doing things called “start up’s” and making numerous brewery’s.
While Kiki and Bryanna are walking on the street, two gangsters on motorcycles shoot Bryanna dead and injure Kiki. Vargas looks through the internet and finds 9 hits on Los santos members and 4 car bombings of their family members, with the marker being the same for the bombs. The murderer of Carlo is found out to be Jason Conti, a young boy who is a part of the gang. Another kid, Fernando Russo, is identified as the person who stole the bike for the hit. Fernando then runs from Stabler and Reyes to a roof, and while Stabler yells at him to get away from the railing, he doesn’t listen and jumps off. An Uzi and cash is seen on his bed and a picture of him and Conti, linking them to the Camorra.
Roman goes to Isabella’s house with Sal and asks why she wanted him here. Roman says that Rocco is “old news” and is going to meet with a new vendor. Stabler looks more through payments given to Bryanna and links them to a brewery. Remembering that Roman was making a brewery, Stabler realizes that Roman might be responsible and tells Bell. Stabler meets up with Eli and his girlfriend, Becky, but they are ambushed and attacked by more motorcycle gangsters.
Promesse Infrante[]
Roman is seen at the funeral of Fernando and they have a brief conversation, Roman clearly looking at Stabler with a suspicious look. Pietro goes to the brewery and Roman manipulates him into beliving that Fernando committed suicide for a good cause. One of the alter boys, linked to Conti and Fernando, tells them about Father De Luca. To find out want he has to do with them, he confesses about how job and his promises.
Reyes goes undercover and asks a gas station vendor to let him get work. He meets up with Angel Acosta, the new Los Santos leader, and gets a violent beating to show that he is ready to a be a member. To get ready for the war, Roman puts body armor on members and shoots them. On the other hand, Acosta finds a boy named Nico, a Camorra member and violently beats him. Luca is interrogated by Stabler and Isabella tells Stabler that he was a former friends with Rocco.
Roman and several goons initiate their first attack by ambushing a van of Los Santos members and starting a shootout where 4 people, two Los santos, and two Camorra, are shot and killed. Pietro is caught in the shootout, and thankfully, Reyes sees him and tells him to leave. Isabella yells at Roman, berating him for bringing Pietro into the gang, but he responds by yelling at her. The unit looks through Rocco’s meetup history in prison and Roman then makes honors to the people who died. Stabler talk to Roman and they both go at each other for what they did. The Los Santos then hits back by funneling as many members in a van and attacking the brewery. Numerous people are shot and the cops arrive. Roman is non fatally shot, while Pietro points a gun at Stabler, where moments later, Eli shoots and kills him.
Lago D'Averno[]
After the shootout, Isabella looks at Pietro’s body and blames Rocco for bringing the gang to the city. Bell reports 6 dead Camorra (4 kids) and four Los Santos members. They then find out that Rocco was not in jail, but it was another person. While Stabler is talking with Bell and gets a text from Becky, a car bomb activates. Roman goes to De Luca’ church and asks to bring him to Isabella’s house. Roman admits that he was pressured and only became a member to protect her. Reyes talks to Lucia, but she denies that she knows anything. Rocco shows up, and has De Luca tortured by burning and then murdered to cover up the crime.
Rocco, Lucia, and several goons travel to Isabella’s house. One of his guards is shot and he leaves to check it out. Meanwhile, Lucia tortures Isabella by mutilating her fingers and burning the stubs. Stabler thankfully saves Isabella, while Roman shoots Rocco. Stabler hears gunshots and goes to check, where he finds a dead body. Roman is then sent to authorities so they can take down the gang. Weirdly, after looking at her body, Stabler finds out that none of her fingers were gone, meaning that Isabella is really alive.
