~ Watley sexually harassing Olivia Benson and inadvertently confessing to his crimes |
Ronnie Watley is the main antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "P.C.". He is a murderer and serial rapist who preys on lesbians.
He was portrayed by Chad Donella.
Early life[]
Watley runs a print shop that his family has owned for 50 years. An angry, socially inept loner, he hates women for ignoring him, and harbors a particular grudge against lesbians, blaming them for "ruining" his neighborhood by buying property there. He takes his frustrations out on lesbians in small, petty ways such as intentionally making mistakes on their print orders, while fantasizing about raping them based on the homophobic belief that gay women need to have their sexuality "corrected" by a man.
Eventually, he makes his fantasies a reality by beating and raping Alisa Davies, a member of the lesbian rights advocacy group LesBeStrong. He accidentally kills her by choking her too hard during the assault and disposes of her body in an alley behind a restaurant. He then signs up to be a part of the group so he can troll for more victims among its members.
"P.C."[]
When LesBeStrong leader Babs Duffy holds a rally demanding that police find Davies' killer, Watley prints fliers for the event, deliberately misspelling Duffy's name as "Babs Daffy". As intended, Duffy is humiliated, and angrily demands that he reprint the fliers; he disingenuously insists that it was an accidental misprint.
Watley chooses Duffy's assistant Rosemary as his next victim, raping her outside of Duffy's apartment and stealing her BlackBerry, which contains the names and contact information of LesBeStrong's members. Detectives Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler of the NYPD's Special Victims Unit, who are investigating the rapes as well as Davies' murder, review security camera footage of the assault and find that, while the rapist hid his face from the camera, he revealed a tattoo of a spider on his right hand.
The next day, Duffy holds another rally in which she tells her followers that she is in a relationship with a man, and Watley attends in hopes of getting to watch the crowd boo her. Benson, Stabler, and Detective Fin Tutuola spot the tattoo on his hand and arrest him.
Stabler interrogates Watley and accuses him of raping lesbians because he is homophobic, but Watley insists that he supports the lesbian community. Benson takes over the interrogation and pretends to be a lesbian, playing on Watley's misogyny and sexual frustration by saying that he hates lesbians, and women in general, because they reject his advances, and that she can tell that he would love to "correct" her. Overcome with lust and rage, Watley hisses at Benson that she would love it if he raped her, just like his other victims did. When Benson abruptly leaves the room, Watley realizes that she tricked him into confessing, and shouts, "You bitch!" after her,
Watley is then imprisoned for rape and murder.
