| “ | Rory: I always thought your whole act was bullshit. I never believed in ghosts, spirits, or any of it. Lydia: What, all this time? Why the hell do you want to get married? Rory: Money! I knew I could make more as your husband than I could as your manager, and I never had a dead fiancée. I just went to that survivors' retreat so that I could meet weak women and exploit them. And I hit the co-dependent lottery when I met you. |

| ~ Rory being forced to admit to Lydia he's only using her for her money after being injected with truth serum by Beetlejuice. |
Rory is the secondary antagonist of Tim Burton's 2024 dark fantasy comedy horror film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the sequel to the 1988 film Beetlejuice. He is Lydia's former manager and ex-boyfriend.
He was portrayed by Justin Theroux, who also played Seamus O'Grady in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Leezar in Your Highness, Lord Garmadon in The LEGO Ninjago Movie, Dropkick in Bumblebee, and Tom Watson in The Girl on the Train.
Personality[]
Near the end, he is revealed to be predatory gold-digger who took advantage of Lydia all along. Not only that, he revealed that he never believed in the supernatural or her ability, thinking of her as fraud. Rory was only convinced by seeing Beetlejuice in his dreams and in real life after being affected by the latter's powers.
Appearance[]
Rory is a middle-aged man with black hair tied in a small ponytail, brown eyes and fair skin.
Biography[]
After Beetlejuice makes his way into in the church, Rory recognized him as the creature from his nightmare, realizing he was real. Beetlejuice remarked on that and decided Rory needed to be more open with everyone by injecting him with truth serum. Under the influence, Rory confesses to Lydia and the guests that he never believed in her powers until now and he initially didn't believe in the supernatural, also admitting that he only sought to marry her for money. Rory even admits to never having a dead fiancée, it was a ruse to get Lydia and con her.
Beetlejuice (in a rare compassionate moment) gives Lydia a boxing glove and she uses it to give a well deserve punch to Rory, sending him flying away. This was met with satisfaction from Astrid. Afterwards, Rory was put under Beetlejuice's influence as he conducted his wedding to Lydia. When Beetlejuice's ex-wife Delores arrives, the distracts Delores by turning Rory over to her, allowing Delia and Astrid to open a portal to summon a sandworm from Titan. To Rory's great horror, Beetlejuice leads it to devour both him and Delores.
It can be presumed Rory's soul ended up on the other side, where he was likely sent to Hell like Jeremy Frazier for his evil nature.
