Rosa Fernandez (born Gabriela Múnoz) is the main antagonist of the Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders episode "The Devil's Breath". Fernandez is a Colombian gang leader of a group of pickpocket children, resorts to escalations of murdering victims through drug stupors.
She's portrayed by Colombian actress Karina Arroyave.
Biography[]
Fernandez formerly prostituted herself on the streets of Bogota, gaining a criminal record, until she stole someone else's identity and decided to expand her criminal enterprise from a position as hotel manager. When she gathered children from the streets to be her loyal accomplices, she gave them powdered scopolamine, a drug known as "The Devil's Breath" in Colombia from its use by cartels, where it was blown into faces of victims for immediate effect. The kids would peddle on the streets so tourists would pity them when assuming they were beggars. Once the tourists were drugged, they'd be forced under their stupor to drain their bank accounts and wire the money to the gang, as their inhibitions would be diminished in their stupor. Fernandez long had a hatred of international citizens, especially tourists, so she decided to up the ante by attacking them in her own fashion as well. When she grew bolder from the successful crimes against the tourists, she'd personally tell the victims to kill themselves, to wipe traces of her crimes and make herself powerful over her gang. Another prostitute named Canela, whom the children grew to bond with more than Fernandez, was throw out by Fernandez when she feared losing her grip on the kids.
Drew Defoe jumps off a roof and Jim Hulse walks in the path of a moving truck, which is more than plenty for summoning the International Response Team. She pretends to be chasing children from the hotel, insulting them by saying they're a "stain" on the country. As Fernandez already had the victims' belongings cleared, she had the presiding detective be emphatic about his disbelief there was a crime in the men's suicides. She arranges the agents' rooms, while she returns to the hideout of the gang and hits one of the most defiant members, Romeo, when he says the kids had a great day in their schemes. She orders Romeo to shoot at the agents in an alley, but he misses them all and leads them to the hideout. Fernandez furiously beats Romeo and pulls a pistol, ready to shoot him. She professes a survival of the fittest philosophy while admitting to her murders, which causes Romeo to say they'll all be homeless again once they're useless to her. The agents barge in to stop Fernandez, but she refuses to drop the pistol and aims at Romeo, only to be killed by Garrett shooting her in her back.
