Rosco Purvis Coltrane is the second antagonist in the Dukes of Hazzard franhise. He is also Boss Hogg's right hand man.
History[]
Rosco is one of the many main characters in the show and even though he is a corrupt sheriff it has been mentioned a few times that he use to a good honorable cop. The reason why Rasco changed from an honorable officer of the law was because it didn't bring in as much money that needed so he became desperate and out greedy started working for Boss Hogg to get more money.
While Rosco use to be a respectable cop at for 20 to 30 years he is a bumbling buffoon and both Boss Hogg and Sheriff Little mention that a few times. Rosco being so clumsy is the reason why he can't catch the Duke Boys but despite that he never gives up. Even though Rosco my not be bright he does mention that he likes chasing the Duke Boys meaning that he is thrill seeker and loves his job as sheriff. Rosco is also a person who doesn't like to admit when makes a mistake and usually blames others like Enos and Cletus.
Even though Rosco tries to frame the Duke Boys for crimes they didn't commit he has teamed up with them to take down other criminal that are sometimes worse then him and Boss Hogg. Even though Rosco carries a gun and has used it a few times he and Boss are both are against violence. Although the series doesn't show any other cops in Hazzard County aside from Rosco, Enos and Cletus Roso mentions that all the cops in department are corrupt just like him except for Enos.
It has also been mentioned that Rosco will do anything for Boss Hogg even though he has questioned him a few times he remains loyal to him and often calls Boss his little fat buddy. Aside from his loyalty to Boss Hogg Rosco also loves his dog Flash and Flash means the whole world to him even though Flash doesn't like Bogss Hogg and Boss doesn't like Flash.
