Rouge the Bat is a secondary antagonist of the Sonic the Comic Online! webcomic, the "unofficially official" continuation of Sonic the Comic series by Fleetway. She is the Drakon Empire's spy on Mobius. Although she assists them in their attempts to conquer the planet, her only true loyalty is to her bank account.
Biography[]
Rouge was initially introduced as a member of the Syndicate. She assisted Dr. Zachary in stealing the Chaos Emeralds. To get the code to the case containing them, she held Porker Lewis hostage, forcing Knuckles to give her the code. When she opened the case, however, the Chaos Emeralds teleported to the Special Zone, which later resulted in its presumed destruction. When the Syndicate was close to defeat, Master Scholar ordered Rouge to abandon them and continue laying ground for the Drakons' invasion of Mobius.
Before and after the start of the War of Mobius, Rouge entertained herself by stirring up trouble in Hilltop Zone, always managing to avoid capture by Household Keepers, and causing their leader Dunzi to develop a grudge against her, though eventually she abandoned it. Scholar also had her spy on Robotnik for the Empire. She was eventually made CEO of the Mobius Banking Corporation, and when she decided to take a peak at the treasure kept in the former CEO's vault, she discovered it to be a Mobius Ring. At the same time, Master Scholar decided that Rouge had outlived her usefulness and blew up the vault with her in it. The bat survived barely, and after realizing that the Drakons wouldn't spare her as the war neared its endgame, decided to help the Freedom Fighters save the planet.
Some time later, Rouge was seen in the Dust Bowl Zone, delivering a Time Stone to her client who turned out to be Infinite. As Infinite gazed upon the stone, Rouge drew her gun on him, but the jackal had already absorbed the gem's power and used it to freeze Rouge in time. He declared that he saw past, future and everyone in them, but not the bat herself, as the spy dissolved into dust.
Personality[]
Unlike her main series counterpart, who, in spite of being just as greedy, treats treasure hunting as a hobby and has been able to commit heroics out of selfless motivation, this version of Rouge thinks of herself and her money first and foremost. Having allied herself with the Drakons in exchange for a luxurous life, she would nevertheless readily turn on them if someone offered a bigger payment, and only helped save Mobius from destruction because she would also die otherwise.
In spite of how vile she is, Rouge is exceptively smart and cunning. She unilizes her wits, stealth and illusionary devices to slip away from authorities every time it appears her capture is imminent, and come back to haunt them yet again.
