He was a decorated special forces soldier who was recruited by Trinity to lead their military force, and became the right hand of Dr. Pedro Dominguez. During the search of Chak Chel's key and Ix Chel's silver box, Rourke encountered Lara Croft, and attempts to kill the adventurer during the course of the game.

Biography[]
Background[]
Not much is known about Rourke's past, but he served in the United States Special Forces, where he was highly decorated due to his mission success. Hearing of his reputation, Trinity approached him with the opportunity to serve in their military, and he accepted their offer. Serving in the organization, Rourke was Dr. Pedro Dominguez's second-in-command, but the former secretly despised his leader's care for his affiliation to the people of Paititi.
Rise of the Tomb Raider[]
Rourke connections to Trinity also gave him ties to other military soldiers in the organization, such as Commander Konstantin during his mission to find the divine source to heal his sister Ana. After Konstantin failed due to Lara Croft stopping Trinity from getting the source, Rourke tasked an officer to eliminate Ana, but was ordered by Dominguez to not kill Lara. Following the events, Rourke came to regret not having Croft killed, as she continued to interfere with Trinity's plans.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider[]
Following the failure of obtaining the divine source, Dominguez sought to obtain Chak Chel's key to combine with Ix chel's silver box to save Paititi and remake the world. The doctor traveled to Cozumel to find the key alongside Rourke and his men, but Lara retrieved the key before they could. Rourke managed to confront Croft, but was ordered by Dominguez to take the key from her and leave her alive once again. Lara's actions resulted in the Mayan apocalypse to occur from removing the key, causing the destruction of Cozumel via a tsunami. Rourke and Dominguez escaped from the city before this, and traveled to Peru to continue their search for the silver box.
Rourke would bring heavy battalions to deal with Lara, but became more frustrated with Croft managing to kill his subordinates. While helping Dominguez strengthen his rule in Paititi, Rourke and his men encountered Lara and Unuratu searching for the silver box, and the commander managed to kill Unuratu during the fight. Later on, Rourke and his men ambushed Lara and her friend Jonah during their search at the oil fields. Following the ambush, Rourke spoke with Lara via comms and started to taunt her, going to the point of lying that he murdered Jonah to make her fall into one of his traps. He would then leave fellow Trinity pilot Winters to eliminate Lara, but the officer was killed in his helicopter.
Finding the location of the silver box, Dominguez tasks Rourke with attacking the city and protecting him so he could commence the ritual. During the assault, Rourke has a breakdown while manning a tank, seeing his men and Trinity's high council be killed by the Yaaxil. Lara soon arrives and eliminates Rourke's men protecting the rank, resulting in the commander being killed by Crimson Fire and the Yaaxil.
