The Rowdyruff Boys (individualized as Brick, Boomer, and Butch) are major antagonists in Cartoon Network's The Powerpuff Girls franchise.
The Rowdyruff Boys are the male counterparts and arch-rivals turned love interests of the Powerpuff Girls, under the creation of Mojo Jojo, and after their explosion from the Powerpuff Girls' kisses, the trio were revived by HIM. After their final appearance in Custody Battle, the Rowdyruff Boys have retired their career of villainy, defecting from HIM and Mojo Jojo in the process and retired from destroying the girls.
Brick and Boomer were both voiced by Rob Paulsen, while Butch was voiced by Roger L. Jackson, who also voiced Mojo Jojo in the same series.
Appearance
The Rowdyruff Boys wear shirts the same color as their eyes with a black stripe, black trousers and matching sneakers. They have large eyes, oval-shaped heads, stubby arms, and legs, and, although the the trio are able to hear, smell, touch, and hold, lack necks, noses, ears, fingers, or toes (often humorized about in the series). The trio stand 2' 3" and weigh 61 lbs. Although the trio are supervillains, the Rowdyruff Boys resemble seemingly harmless little boys.
Personality
The boys are reckless, uncaring, egotistic, mean, loathsome, chauvinistic, argumentative, and arrogant so the trio have somewhat of an extreme personality of a stereotypical teenage male. In their first appearance, the trio all have the same personality, but in their later appearances, the trio get separate personalities based on the Powerpuff Girls. The boys and Mojo Jojo seem to have a real father-and-son bonding, as seen in their first appearance of their titular name.
Appearances
In their first appearance, they blasted the girls to the ground, and then the latter three tried to leave in shame. Although the boys were too dangerous to be kept alive, Ms. Bellum advised the girls to "try being nice." They face the boys again, and, to their confusion, perform their flirtatious eyelash gag, giving the boys the kiss of death. Eventually, they exploded when the Powerpuff Girls kissed them, resulting in "cooties."
In their second appearance, they shrunk whenever their masculinity was threatened. They continue to return in the series. Ironically, they never appear in any of the series' special episodes, and were never shown teaming up with other villains to take down the Powerpuff Girls in said specials.

Brick
Brick, nicknamed the Emperor of Pain, King of Crushing or The Bludgeoner, is the oldest of his brothers and is the leader of the Rowdyruff Boys. Brick is Blossom's rival. His signature color is red. Like Blossom, Brick is the oldest, most intelligent, mature and hyperaware of the Rowdyruff Boys, thus characterizing him with leadership. His main element is “Puppy Dog Tail.”
Boomer
Boomer, nicknamed the Dumber Than The Dumbest, is the dumbest and the youngest of the Rowdyruff Boys. Boomer is Bubbles' rival. His signature color is blue. Like Bubbles, Boomer is dimwitted, spoiled sweet, and relatively naive. Additionally, in comparison to Brick and Butch, Boomer seems to be the more affable out of the Rowdyruff Boys. His main element is “Snips.”
Butch
Butch, nicknamed the Baron of Berserk, and Beast of Destruction, is the most dangerous and the middle child of the Rowdyruff Boys. Butch is Buttercup's rival. His signature color is green. Like Buttercup, Butch is a ruthless, sour, intimidating, dreaded and egotistic berserker and fighter, and is perceived as the most dangerous and most powerful of the Rowdyruff Boys. His main element is “Snails.”
Ultimate Fate
After the Rowdyruff Boys' final appearance in the episode "Custody Battle", it remained unknown what happened to them afterwards. It could be possible that they were simply defeated by the Powerpuff Girls off-screen or they just left Townsville, defecting from HIM and Mojo Jojo in the process and forgot all about destroying the girls, and never returned.
However, they still appeared in the Powerpuff Girls DC comics, so it’s safe to assure that they never left Townsville or was never killed off-screen.
Trivia
- The Powerpuff Girls' 10th anniversary countdown revealed The Rowdyruff Boys to be #2 of the worst villains, only behind Mojo Jojo.
- Both Brick and Boomer were voiced by Rob Paulsen, who is famous for playing Raphael, Yakko, and Pinky, while Butch was voiced by Roger L. Jackson, who portrayed Mojo Jojo, the boys' creator, and the voice of Ghostface.
- The Rowdyruff Boys are unlockable characters to play in two of the three games of The Powerpuff Girls video games for the Game Boy Color when the player inputs a special code. The games include Bad Mojo Jojo and Battle Him. The trio do make an appearance in Paint the Townsville Green, but are unplayable. The Rowdyruff Boys appear as alternate costumes for all three of the Powerpuff Girls in Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL as well as MultiVersus.
- The personalities of the Rowdyruff boys are characterized as more heinous and villainous editions of Powerpuff Girls. Brick's bossiness is equivalent to Blossom's leadership, Boomer's stupidity is equivalent to Bubbles' baby-like sweetness, and Butch's hyperactive, erratic violent behavior is equivalent to Buttercup's toughness and strong, dreadful fighting skills.
- The Rowdyruff Boys do not appear to consider other villains as either comrades or competition. In "Bubble Boy," the trio take over Fuzzy Lumpkins' cabin without remorse, leaving him tied up in a corner, and in "Boys Toys," they reject Princess Morbucks' offer of alliance on account of her being a girl. In "Custody Battle," they show little to no respect towards HIM or Mojo Jojo. This shows that the boys lack care for other people rather than themselves.
- In the crossover game, MultiVersus, Boomer is implied to have an crush on Bubbles as after getting KO'd, he says "I hope Bubbles didn’t see that."
