Biography[]
Background[]

Basic Instinct[]
At some point after being released from prison Roxy would meet and become the lover of Catherine Tramell a famous murder mystery writer who possessed a morbid fascination with individuals who commit gruesome murders and would use their crimes as the basis for her stories.
After Catherine becomes the main suspect in a murder committed in San Franciso, a homicide detective Nick Curran begins an investigation into Catherine's past becoming unwittingly entangled in her manipulative games in the process. Eventually him and Catherine enter a torrid affair despite Catherine still being in a relationship with Roxy at the time.
Consumed with jealousy over Catherine's new favorite, Roxy tries to get rid of Nick by running him down in a car only to end up dead herself after getting into a car crash.
Legacy[]
Roxy's death had a profound impact on Catherine Tramell; who was left guilt-ridden and traumatized; by the incident as it had reminded her of a previous relationship, she had been in that; went wrong.
Quotes[]
- NICK: I don't understand what the hell's going on here, pop.
- GUS: Ain't that hard, son. This young farmgirl, she got tired of all that attention goin' to her little brothers -- she fixed 'em. Just like 'ole Hazel Dobkins fixed her whole family -- except young Roxy here, she didn't use a wedding present. She used Daddy's razor.
- ROXY: She's out at the beach house at . Stinson. Seadrift. 1402.
- NICK: Thanks.
- [They start to head out.]
- ROXY: You're wasting your time. Catherine didn't kill him.
- [A beat, they look at her, and go...]
- NICK: Ms. Tramell?
- [She takes a long look a Nick, then looks away. CATHERINE TRAMELL is 30 years old. She has long blonde hair and a refined, classically beautiful face. She is not knockout gorgeous like Roxy; there is a smoky kind of sensuousness about her.]
- Nick: What about Roxy? Is she more fun?
- Catherine: [chuckles] Would you like to join us some time?
- Nick: Did she join you and Johnny?
- Catherine: No, Johnny felt intimidated.
- Nick: Look what happened to him.
- ROXY: (quietly) If you don't leave her alone, I'll kill you.
- [He looks at her a beat, then turns --]
- NICK: Tell me something, Rocki. Man-to-man.
- [She looks at him a beat, and then --]
- NICK: (he smiles) I think she's the fuck of the century, don't you?
- [For a second, she looks like she's going to spring at him, then controls it and turns to go.]
- NICK: How long you been here, Rock? You like to watch, do you?
- ROXY: (after a beat, looks at him) She likes me to watch.
- [And she turns and she is gone.]

Trivia[]
- It's never made clear if it was Catherine or Roxy who was the one who murdered Johnny Boz at the beginning of the film though given Roxy's jealous nature it would be entirely within character if she killed him for his sexual relationship with Catherine.
- Alternatively, it could've been Catherine who killed him, or she had had Roxy kill him personally as it was revealed that she had been doing research into Nick Curran's life before the murder even took place implying that getting his attention had been her goal from the beginning.
