The Royal 'Corrupt' Hedgehogs are the main antagonists of the episode "Six Is A Crowd" of the Sonic Underground TV series. They are counterparts of Sonic, Manic and Sonia from an alternate dimension where they are evil rulers of Mobius and Dr. Robotnik is a heroic rebel. They were eventually toppled by their Underground Zone counterparts.

All three were voiced by Jaleel White.

Biography

Past

At some point in time, Sonic and his siblings became the rulers of Mobius. Under their rule, people of the planet suffered from increasing poverty due to Manic heavily taxing them, and in fear of imprisonment or death due to Sonic and Sonia's hair-trigger temper. Music was banned under their rule, likely due to Sonic's hatred of it. They were resisted by a handful of Freedom Fighters, led by Robotnik.

Sonic Underground

To show them how power may corrupt its wielder, the Oracle sent the Sonic Underground into their evil counterparts' home dimension, where they were initially mistaken for them and subsequently captured by the Freedom Fighters. After realizing who they really were, however, Robotnik agreed to ally with them to defeat their evil counterparts.

By impersonating the corrupt rulers, Sonic Underground infiltrated their palace. There, Manic and Sonia easily defeated their counterparts, while Sonic challenged his counterpart to a race and got restrained in the process, but was rescued by Robotnik.

The deposed tyrants were then taken on a tour across their realm, where they saw first-hand the effects of their cruelty and were filled with remorse. They agreed to change themselves and remained in power, ruling their subjects benevolently from then on.

Trivia

• For reasons unknown, the Royal Hedgehogs are still referred to as "princes" and "princess", with none of the three holding the title of a king or queen.
• Unlike Royal Manic, who looks identical to his Underground counterpart, Royal Sonic and Sonia differ in appearances from the original ones: Sonia wears a different dress while Sonic is notably obese, though still the fastest person on Mobius.
