“ | You're about as intelligent as a Gobball. Taking on a Major Shushu all by yourself, I'm almost insulted. I'll have to clear my name with a nice bit of carnage. And do you know what I'm gonna do once I've finished with you? I'm gonna free all my fellow Shushus, starting with Shadowfang. And then I'm gonna pay your little friend Evangelyne a visit. I'll turn her into the sexiest Ghoul around. | „ |
~ Rubilax announcing his plans once he kills Sadlygrove. |
“ | Rushu: Well, well. Rubilax the Traitor and his silly suicidal Iop. Rubilax: In flesh and bones! Rushu: How could you betray your brothers and your people, Rubilax? Rubilax: My brothers? My people? Are we talking about the same big family that fed me to the Pirashus? Sadlygrove: Well said, buddy! Rubilax: Stop calling me that. Sadlygrove: Don't act so cool, I know you like it. |

~ Rubilax to his former chief, Rushu. |

Description[]
True Form[]
“ | Oh yeah, it surprises everyone a bit at first. The more you hit me, the larger I get. The larger I get, the stronger I am. | „ |
~ Rubilax's power. |
When Rubilax is not imprisoned in the sword, he is a dwarf sized rock monster with small spikes sprouting from his back. On his forehead there is a red mark resembling the shape of his demonic eye in the hilt of his sword imprisonment. Despite his odd appearance he is extremely powerful, whenever he is hit he grows larger and gains increased physical strength (seen when he sends Sadlygrove flying through several boulders). As he grows his apparence slinghty change, with some sort of flaming veins throughout his body and lesser but bigger spikes on his back. His skin seems to be made of solid rock. While unleashed, he have the power to create an army of clay copies of himself (power that somehow retained while inside Grovy's body), and can produce black flames.
Weapon Form[]
When imprisoned within the sword he resembles a very small dagger with an eye on the center of the hilt. However, he can grow to a large sword with magma flowing through it or a large green sword with motifs.
Possed Form[]
When he possesses a creature it transforms into a larger and more daemonic looking version of it's former self. The eye of the hilt appears on the forehead of the possessed creature.
Personality[]
“ | Evangelyne: Rubilax, the sooner you admit who you are, the better you will fee. Rubilax: Really? And who am I, you pathetic little turkey? Evangelyne: A nice guy who's playing the bad guy. |
„ |
~ Evangelyne trying to make Rubilax listen to reason. |
When first seen, Rubilax is obsessed with destroying everything and killing people (although he never manages to do so even when he had the opportunity). Like all other Shushus, he is extremely arrogant, as he believes himself to be superior to everyone, and is easily provoked, and repeatedly mocks Sadlygrove. He had seized any opportunity to possess someone and attempted to cause carnage (he fails most of the time). The only times that he show fear was before Goultard, the Iop demi-god, and Rushu (when not provoked too much), lord and master of all Shushus.
After he is beaten in duel by Sadlygrove he has a friendlier relationship with him. He nearly cried when Sadlygrove was killed saving Evangeline from Razortime. Against all Shushus, common reason he even saved him, trying to hide this act of kindness behind the swap of their souls. Denied of any kind of merits for his invasion plan, he was foolish enough to let his anger rage, replying back and insulting Rushu, an act of treason punished with death. After being forced out of Sadlygrove's body he remains silent for a while, weighting about the kindness he is not supposed to have.
After they escaped from the Shukrute he becomes a real friend of Sadlygrove (although he still does from time to time mock Sadlygrove in a friendly manner). He even spoke on Sadlygrove's behalf when he had a fight with Evangeline and engaging in casual conversations with Sadlygrove.
Biography[]
Coming from the Shushu world, Rubilax was originally the Shushu of the demigod Iop Goultard that Rubilax feared enough until Goultard died under unknown circumstances, Rubilax subsequently becoming the Shushu of Sadlygrove, Goultard's young disciple. Although having many adventures together for years, Rubilax despised Sadlygrove above all else, largely for his stupidity and weakness, the Shushu always seeking an opportunity to be free to sow chaos and destruction.
Season 1[]
Landing in a village with a Sadlygrove under his control, Rubilax begins to ransack the local inn. The Enutrofs Alibert and Ruel Stroud try to stop him but Rubilax is too strong for them. Yugo, a boy with mysterious powers (actually an Eliatrope) joins the fight and with Ruel's intelligence on the Shusu, Yugo grabs Rubilax and rips him from Sadlygrove's forehead, returning him to his sword form.
Afterwards, Sadlygrove joins Yugo and Ruel in trying to solve the mystery behind the forest creatures' attack on the village, with Rubilax spending the time disparaging Sadlygrove when he's not using it as a melee weapon. Once the problem is solved, the gang joined by Princess Sadida Amalia and her bodyguard Cra Evangelyne and attack Nox the Xelor, the new team formed leaves for the island of Oma to find Yugo's real family, Rubilax of course having no say except for mocking the nickname "Dally" that Yugo gave to Sadlygrove.
Throughout the journey, Rubilax never misses an opportunity to indulge in sarcasm or mock the gang in their heroic deeds. When Amelia is poisoned by a sensitive plant and falls ill, Rubilax takes the opportunity to take possession of Amalia's Sadida doll whose condition makes the doll devilish but no sooner does he attack the gang than he ends up separated from his host again. Arriving on the island of Oma, Rubilax is primarily used by Dally against the dragon Grougaloragran, the latter attacking the gang due to Rubilax's immense evil aura obscuring his vision. During the fight, Rubilax ends up embedded in a high wall, allowing Grougaloragran to realize his mistake. Despite the end of hostilities, Grougaloragran is of the opinion that Rubilax is dangerous and should be destroyed.
Following the gang being teleported by Grougaloragran to a snowy landscape to face Nox alone in a fight that he ultimately lose by sacrificing himself to prevent Nox from taking his Wakfu, the gang decides to do everything to stop Nox once and for all, calling themselves the Brotherhood of Tofu and splitting in two for now. Rubilax is in the party traveling to the Sadida Kingdom where Nox plans to steal all the Wakfu from Tree of Life, but once there Rubilax takes advantage of Sadlygrove's altercation towards Amalia's brother, Prince Armand, to corrupt once again his keeper then the demonic duo proceed to ruthlessly beat up the Sadidas. Evangelyne tries to reason with Corrupted Sadlygrove, only for him to break Evangelyne's bow and her wrist under Rubilax's influence. On the verge of a brutal battle with Armand, Rubilax loses control of Dally horrified by what he did to Evangelyne and flees far from the kingdom.
At the border of a huge desert, Dally manages to free himself from Rubilax. Ashamed of his actions and finally having enough Rubilax, Dally buries him much to the wrath of the Shushu promising revenge for it. Rubilax later breaks free by merging with a caterpillar and stalks Dally in the dessert, only to come face to face with a living Goultard. Immediately, Goultard slices the caterpillar in half, returning Rubilax to his sword form. Then, Goultard organizes a fight between Dally and Rubilax to allow Dally to overcome his doubts and his fears, thereby completely freeing Rubilax from the sword. Although small in his true form, Rubilax proves strong enough to push Dally into the air, shortly before Dally counterattacks to the point of first getting the better of Rubilax but unfortunately for the Iop, the blows Rubilax received only made him bigger and stronger. With a single punch, Rubilax waltzes Dally away before sending stone clones to finish him off. Declaring to Dally that this confrontation is only an insult in his eyes, Rubilax proclaims his plan to raise an army of Shushu and even turn Evangelyne into a Ghoul. On this word, Dally enters a temporary secondary state making him stronger and destroys all the clones of Rubilax. Although impressed, Rubilax refuses to believe that Dally would be able to beat him due to his ability to always get stronger. Dally's persistence eventually gets the better of Rubilax, with the Shushu growing so large and therefore so heavy with each hit that it begins to sink into the sand. Afraid of dying of sand indigestion, Rubilax admits defeat and returns to the sword, now impressed by Dally's true strength. The old duo then returns to the Sadida Kingdom to do battle with Nox.
Back in the kingdom when Nox arrives, the Brotherhood of Tofu engages the confrontation with the minions of Nox as well as the Raze-time, an overpowered automaton which forces Dally to merge with Rubilax except that now the Iop still has control in his demonic form. Dally ends up sacrificing his life as he takes a blast of Raze-time energy head-on, Rubilax can be seen seemingly mourning him as Dally's body disintegrates.
Season 2[]
Following the final fight against Nox, Rubilax disappeared without a trace, leading Amalia to believe he had been destroyed in the clash. In reality, Rubilax used his connection with Dally to prevent his soul from passing into the afterlife. The result is Dally resurrecting in the body of Rubilax stuck in the sword while Rubilax retrieves Dally's body. Dally thanks Rubilax for bringing him back to life, only for Rubilax to angrily deny it. Over the next few months, Rubilax harvested many Shushus still confined, including Shadowfang which he used to obtain an army of Ghoul and also destroyed cities some of which became a single moving city known as Rubilaxia.
Guided by visions of Dally, Evangelyne ends up in Rubilaxia where Rubilax confronts her, shocking her when she discovers he has taken Dally's body. The dastardly Shushu is about to slap the Cra but much to his confusion, Dally's body instinctively refuses to smack Evangelyne. He then throws rock projectiles at Evangelyne trying to get away with Dally but the Iop is robbing rogue Remington Smisse, leading to a chase through the city. At the moment, Yugo, Amalia and Ruel arrive in Rubilax's castle thanks to a magic arrow left by Eva and confuse Rubilax with Dally, giving Rubilax the opportunity to steal their shadows except for Yugo who is immune to it. Despite this constraint, Rubilax judges that Yugo can still be used for his plans and takes him prisoner.
In the basement of Rubilaxia, Rubilax makes contact with his master Rushu from a Shushu mirror linking the World of Twelve with the Shushu dimension. Rubilax tries to explain to the Shushu King that he thinks Yugo's powers would bring all the other Shushus to this dimension, only to be constantly put in his place by Rushu due to his favoritism towards Shadowfang, things not getting any better when a captured Evangelyne and Dally only say good things about Rubilax to the point of disgusting Rushu who decides to hand over the reins to Shadowfang instead of Rubilax. Enraged, Rubilax lets out his fury at Rushu for his constant belittling and ends up breaking the mirror, cutting off contact with an upset Rushu. Shadowfang taunts Rubilax for signing her death warrant, only for Rubilax toss her to the ground ordering her to shut up, indirectly freeing all Ghouls from mind control. Holding the gang responsible for his situation, Rubilax charges at them but Evangelyne gets in his way to block him due to him not being able to hit her and she encourages him to accept that he is not as cruel as he thinks, causing Rubilax to have a fit that undoes the body swap.
Since this event, Rubilax no longer says anything and becomes strangely inert, not reacting to anything. At the start of the Brotherhood's new journey to the Crimson Claw Archipelago to find Qilby's Dofus in order to use its power to bring back the Eliatrope people, Dally eventually grows fed up with Rubilax's inaction to the point of banging him against a rock to wake him up in vain, to which Evangelyne advises him to give Rubilax time to accept that he isn't as bad as he always believed it. Rubilax starts talking again when Rushu's right-hand man, Anathar captures him and takes him to the Shushus' dimension with Yugo, Dally and Remington.
Back home, Rubilax is brought in for his betrayal in front of Rushu who demands he get out of the sword. Rubilax claims he can't, only for Rushu to remind him that prison item magic doesn't work here, warning him to get out before he comes looking for it himself. Once Rubilax breaks out of her prison, he saves Dally from being crushed for insulting Rushu by asking for the Rush just in time. On their way to the battle arena, Rubilax explains to Yugo that the Rush is an endless deathmatch against Pirashus, which is their only chance to stay alive the longest. Also confronted by Anathar, Rubilax uses the attacks of the Pirashus to quickly become giant. Despite his physical advantage allowing him to easily defeat the Pirashus, Rubilax is knocked down by Anathar and the Pirashus begin to devour him from everywhere. Yugo saves him by pulverizing the critters but the damage Rubilax has taken causes him to regress to his base form, unable to become giant again for now but still able to smash some Pirashu. The foursome eventually flee out of the arena and race through a portal back to their world, with a weakened Rubilax being carried by Dally who refuses to leave him behind. Almost there, Rushu blocks their way, so Rubilax throws Grany, Remington's brother to transform into Bow Meow, on the gigantic Shushu to create a diversion while they reach the portal. Rubilax instantly returns to the sword upon returning to the World of Twelve.
With the quest resuming, Rubilax continues to serve as a weapon for Dally but now has a somewhat more brotherly relationship with Dally and acts more like a friend to others now, although remaining teasing and sarcastic. During a stop at the Trool Fair theme park, Rubilax sides with a miffed Dally that Evangelyne never told him about his little sister, Cleome, the Shushu responding bitterly to every excuse Evangelyne comes up with before suggesting that he and Dally go watch a fight in the arena. In the stands, Rubilax encourages Dally to join the fight just as a brawling young Cra woman makes Cleome about to have a bad time against three Trools.
The next day, Rubilax starts talking about his admiration for Cleome, much to Amalia's exasperation, causing slight tension between the boys who felt that Cleome had a place among them and the girls who were against her presence. In the port where they are going to rent a boat for the archipelago, Rubilax, Dally and Ruel take advantage that the girls have left to reveal to Yugo that Cleome was hidden in Ruel's dimensional bag, Rubilax declaring that Yugo had not been put aware because he was too pure for lies. Later, Dally uses Rubilax to win a standoff against pirates. The next day, the Brotherhood of Tofu boards Black Ink and Elaine's boat.
During the crossing at sea, the boat ends at the top of an island and is invaded by ape men. Dally merges with Rubilax again to discover some, only for it to capsize the boat to another mountain. Later that day, Rubilax is picked up by Evangelyne as Dally was transformed into an ape man along with Ruel, Yugo, and Black Ink by Bellaphones controlling them. Evangelyne manages to fuse Rubilax with Dally who he can control in this state and in no time Rubilax knocks out all the ape men, allowing the girls to evacuate their friends before the Bellaphones cave collapses.
Finally arriving at the Crimson Claws Islands, the gang come into conflict with the New Sufokia army claiming the islands and also come into conflict with the dragon Phaeris living there. After Yugo sabotages the boat to prevent his friends from risking their lives, a Rubilax-fused Dally suddenly joins a clash between Yugo and General Frida Mofette, throwing her into the water. Suddenly, Rubilax senses the Shushus arriving on the island through a giant portal. Adamai, Yugo's dragon brother, possessed by Anathar, Yugo asks Rubilax how to free him, only for Rubilax to be clueless due to Anathar's power and never being possessed by a dragon himself . In the heat of the battle, Rubilax is too afraid of Rushu to dare to confront him but alas Dally is too excited by the idea of facing the King of the Shushus to care.
The duo are quickly roughed up by Rushu who berates Rubilax for letting someone use his powers against his king but Rubilax is so fed up with Rushu who yells at him to shut up before encouraging Dally to resume the fight, only to be easily pushed back. . The sudden arrival of Goultard, who is an old rival of Rushu, gives Dally and Rubilax a breather. The titanic fight ends when Rushu turns his attention to the New Sufokia army, so Rubilax warns the two Iops that Rushu is equal to a god and claims they don't stand a chance but then again it doesn't. not dissuade Dally from attacking Rushu head-on. After Rushu is reverted to his true, smaller form, Rubilax explains to Dally and Evangelyne that the Shushu King's gigantic appearance only serves to intimidate them.
The clash now involving only Goultard and Rushu, Dally and Rubilax de-merges as Evangelyne admits her doubts about the situation overtaking them. Rushu taking over, Dally and Rubilax come between him and Goultard. Rushu angrily denounces Rubilax for betraying his people, only for Rubilax to literally disown his fellow Shushus for all they did to him, shortly before Goultard imprisons himself with Rushu in his dimension as the portal went to close.
The trio return to the beach but Remington appears and takes Evangelyne hostage to force Dally to hand over Rubilax to him. After Evangelyne is deliberately shot in the shoulder to protect Cleome, Dally angrily approaches Remington and uses Rubilax only to deflect a shot then painfully stabs him into the ground to finish Remington with his bare hands. Once the entire Brotherhood of Tofu is reunited, they all return home on Phaeris' back.
OAV[]
Rubilax is a secondary character in the special episodes set six years later. In particular, he allows Elely, Dally and Evangelyne's daughter, to merge with him, leaving the little girl in full control. He also later reveals that Sadlygrove is actually the reincarnation of the god Iop, as Sadlygrove had just unlocked his ancient god-like powers. Rubilax does not accompany Dally in his fight against Ogrest, presumably because fusing would block his friend's newfound power.
Season 3[]
A year and a half later, Rubilax is still living with the Iop Cra family, having grown somewhat closer to Elely and usually being placed in the parents' room where he happens to see quite indiscreet things. During a snowstorm, the family is attacked by two demigods Pandawa and Sram from the Siblings, resulting in the destruction of the house. Then arises an Adamai gone wrong which badly injures Dally and leaves Rubilax shattered. While Elely fights the Pandawa, Dally approaches death to the point that he again finds himself in transition to the beyond as during the fight against Nox before Rubilax revives him for the first time. Also present, Rubilax is not optimistic about Dally's chance of staying alive but Dally knows very well that Rubilax can still save him, which Rubilax only accepts if Dally releases him permanently once that they will have save Evangelyne and Flopin previously kidnapped by the Siblings.
Dally wakes up to find that Rubilax is no longer in the now broken sword but instead has become his new right arm, having lost the other during his fight against Ogrest. Reunited with Elely, the duo are joined by Yugo, Amalia and Ruel who in turn discover Rubilax's new form. Ruel then explains to Dally that if he had perished, Rubilax would have been freed anyway, then claiming that Rubilax is really nice but Rubilax threatens to go after Ruel if he continues to mock.
The group travels to the Oropo's tower where Evangelyne and Flopin are being held, only to come across a Xelor trap that ages them with every step, Rubilax also being affected as he is part of Dally now. The mysterious Oropo puts an end to their torment with the hope that they will eventually join his cause. Inside the tower, the group subsequently confronts the demi-goddess Osamodas who only drives them nuts until she turns them into Tofu except for Elely.
In the next room, the group finds themselves confronted by Dark Vlad, whom Dally and Rubilax know to be Goultard in a corrupted form that makes him completely cruel. The Iop stays behind as these friends continue the climb to the top and then begin an intense fight. The Iop stays behind as these friends continue the climb to the top and then begin an intense fight. With Rubilax being able to grow into a bigger and stronger arm, Dally manages to fight on equal footing with Dark Vlad but when he begins to tire, Rubilax encourages him to continue the fight using taunt as scolding him to have softened because of his family whom he is afraid of never seeing again to the point of not being able to give his all in a fight. If Dally manages to get up, he nevertheless tells Rubilax that he is wrong in having asserted that his family made him weaker when in fact it makes him stronger, before transforming Rubilax into a great blade. The fierce fight finally comes to an end with Dark Vlad being defeated and changing into Goultard.
Rubilax, Dally and Goultard spend the rest of the season trying to join their friends at the top, Rubilax being the first to realize from the sound of a whining baby that Evangelyne has just given birth. Rubilax is last seen in the Gods Dimension with all his friends and the rest of the Siblings after Oropo's death.

Trivia[]
- Although taking the hits increases his size and strength, other forms of violence such as biting are of no benefit to him.
- Although naturally not one to care for anyone, Rubilax develops a certain appreciation for Cleome, Evangelyne's younger sister, and also for Evangelyne and Sadlygrove's daughter, Elely.
- There is a slight inconsistency in the size of Rubilax's true form, initially appearing to be half the size of Dally but appearing only a head taller than Dally shortly after they engage in combat when Rubilax had yet to be struck. He then retains this size for the rest of the series whenever he is shown in his true form.
