You can't stop us. You can't stop what we're changing into. This planet is being destroyed by the human race, which lives only to suck the life from it. Like parasites. Only we can save it.

~ Rudy Jones to Supergirl and Alex Danvers.
Dr. Rudolph "Rudy" Jones, later known as Parasite, is a minor antagonist in Season 2 of the CW TV series Supergirl. He is the series adaptation of the DC comics villain of the same name, who is usually depicted as an enemy of Superman.
He was portrayed by William Mapother, who also portrayed Jacob Shaw in Constantine.
Rudy Jones worked as an environmental researcher at the Thorul Arctic Research Station in Svalbard, Norway to find a way to put an end to climate change. One day Jones discovers an Angon alien parasite within the body of a deceased wolf that survived being frozen for over 5,000 years. While performing an autopsy on the animal Jones becomes infected with the organism which takes over the scientist's body and kills the other researchers.
Becoming Parasite[]
An alert from the facility is later intercepted at the DEO. Alex Danvers and J'onn J'onzz arrive in Norway only to discover that everyone but Jones has been mysteriously murdered. Shortly after returning to the U.S., Jones begins targeting and killing anti-global warming politicians in National City seeing them as a threat to the Earth's survival. When confronted by Supergirl and Alex, Jones reveals that he now has the ability to drain the life out of his victims simply by coming into direct contact with their skin. Upon absorbing the powers of both Supergirl and the Martian Manhunter, Jones is transformed into a large purple monstrous creature and takes the name "Parasite".
Death[]
Parasite battles Mon-El and Jimmy Olson (dressed as Guardian) while terrorizing civilians. They are able to fend off the creature long enough for Supergirl to arrive even though she has not fully recovered. Kara tries to reason with Parasite one last time, but he refuses her appeals and charges at her. He is destroyed by the heroine after absorbing two radioactive isotopes, causing Parasite's body to overload with energy and implode, putting an end to his killing spree.

Trivia[]
This is the second live-action version of the Rudy Jones incarnation of Parasite; the first being Smallville.
The Angon parasite that infects Rudy seems heavily inspired by the creature from the 1982 horror film, The Thing.
Both are alien organisms that infect and take over a host (or hosts) body.
Both were found preserved in arctic ice by a group of scientists.
Both creatures exhibit grotesque, shifting physical appearances, involving orifices filled with teeth, writhing tentacles, and mismatched body parts, when transforming or attacking.
Both creatures assimilate aspects of their victims. The Thing perfectly mimics the biological structure and memories of its victims to hide and spread. The Parasite absorbs life energy and powers, and in some comic book and show iterations, absorbs memories as well.
