Rufus T. Firefly, also called Rufus Jr. or R.J., is a supporting antagonist in the 2003 horror film House of 1000 Corpses and a minor character in The Devil's Rejects.

He was portrayed by Robert Allen Mukes in House of 1000 Corpses and by Tyler Mane - who also portrayed Michael Myers in Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween and Sabretooth in the X-Men film series - in The Devil's Rejects.

Biography

Past

Rufus is the son of Earl Firefly and Gloria Teasedale. He is also the older brother of Tiny Firefly. After his mother married Captain Spaulding, both Rufus and Tiny stay in the household. They live on a remote farm in Texas. Like all his family members, the extremely strong Rufus is obsessed with Halloween and kidnaps young men and women with his family during Halloween, who brutally torture and murder them. The survivors are lowered into a well on the Firefly lands on Halloween, where they are guided by Dr. Satan to be received.

House of 1000 Corpses

Rufus owns a tow truck that he uses to lull his victims. He often shoots the tires of travelers out of the undergrowth on the country road, only to then, under the pretext of wanting to help, tow them to the Firefly farm and thus hand them over to his family. This is exactly what he does on the night before Halloween, when Captain Spaulding sends students Jerry Goldsmith, Bill Hudley, Mary Knowles, and Denise Willis onto the road. In the meantime, they have also taken in a supposed hitchhiker, who is actually Rufus' stepsister Baby.

At Baby's request, Rufus picks up the group in his tow truck and brings them to the Firefly farm. They are supposed to wait there while Rufus repairs the car. Rufus actually takes his time with the repairs and when the group wants to leave in the middle of the night, Tiny and Rufus' adoptive brother Otis are already lying in wait, overwhelm the students and take them as prisoners. The next day Rufus and Baby buy alcohol to prepare everything for the Halloween celebration. When evening falls, the survivors are tied together in rabbit costumes and taken to the field. There the coffin is already ready in which Jerry and Denise are to be lowered into the well. Since Jerry refuses to go into the coffin, Rufus unceremoniously heaves Marv into it. After Denise was also forced into the coffin, Rufus operates the winch that lowers the coffin into the depths.

The Devil's Rejects

In May 1978, Ruggsville County Sheriff's Department besieged the family farm. Rufus and his family grabbed a weapon and started shootout with police officers. Rufus was shot by one of these cops and killed.
