Rumaki is the main antagonist of the Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi segment "Secret Origin". He is a legendary bunk monster that kidnaps children and enslaves them to work in his rock candy mines until they're old and frail.
He was voiced by the late Will Ryan, who also voiced Digit from An American Tail, as well as Willie the Giant and Peg Leg Pete in the Mickey Mouse franchise.

Rumaki is a green-furred monster with seven long appendages with sharp black ends, which act as both his arms and legs. Rumaki also has a pair of pink-colored eyeballs with purple eyelids, and sharp yellow teeth.

Long ago, Rumaki grew to infamy as a legendary cryptid among visitors of Camp Youwannasushi, Japan for his yearly habit of kidnapping the child campers that took a specific bunk bed, before dragging them down to his rock candy mines to enslave them and force them to mine rock candy for him to eat. Rumaki has been doing this for long enough that the majority of his victims have now grown old and frail, yet he still continued forcing them to work in his mines.
Secret Origin[]
When a young Ami Onuki and Yumi Yoshimura first enter their cabin in Camp Youwannasushi, they walk to take the bunk bed, but Atchan stops them and warns them not to, explaining that Rumaki will kidnap them if they take that very bunk. Yumi doesn't believe him and starts making a mocking burbling sound, only for Rumaki to kidnap her and stuff her in his sack before dragging her under the bunk to his lair. Ami and Atchan follow Rumaki down to his lair, where he's about to open the sack and enslave Yumi. Ami steals the sack from Rumaki's hands as she an Atchan attempt to run away, but are stopped and captured by Rumaki's army of giant dust monkeys.
Ami wakes up and discovers all of the other campers that Rumaki kidnaped as they are forced to mine rock candy in their elder years. Ami discovers the exit and tries to escape before realizing she forgot Yumi, after which Rumaki mockingly asks if she's looking for her as he holds the sack with Yumi trapped inside just out of Ami's reach. Ami then decides to scare Rumaki by convincing him Atchan is a real superhero. Ami starts by telling Atchan to point towards a rock candy boulder and concentrate, before pushing the boulder down onto Rumaki's head. Ami then attaches the hook of a crane truck Auchan's shirt and signals to the driver to pull Atchan high up to make it seem as though he's flying. Rumaki wakes up and grabs Atchan before slamming him down onto the ground, claiming that his "powers" don't scare him. Atchan reacts by threatening to melt him into pure liquid with his laser vision. Ami tries to stop Atchan to prevent him from ruining the illusion, but Atchan starts counting down to use his supposed laser vision on Rumaki, which scares Rumaki anyway as cowardly gives up and lets the campers go and claims he'll never kidnap any more of them.

- In the video game Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi: The Genie and the Amp, a number monsters that look just like Rumaki appear as enemies in the level Dimension Dementia, where they have risen to the surface world in an alternate reality where an evil Ami and Yumi rule the earth.
