~ Standish giving his speech on the charity gala. |
Chief Constable Rupert Standish is a minor antagonist in the Season 2 of Endeavour, appearing only in the Season 2 finale, "Neverland".
Whilst not being a part of Blenheim Vale incident, nor committing any murderous attempt at Morse or Thursday, Standish had been taking slices from Josiah Landesman and Gerald Wintergreen and is a part of the Oxford's criminal ring of corruption, using supports from both Landesman and Wintergreen to win profits.
He was portrayed by Derek Hutchinson.
Biography[]
Standish was first seen in the city council's charity gala, where he gave his speech to thank his support from both Landesman and Wintergreen. It was shown that journalist Eric Patterson, who craved on investigating the past of Blenheim Vale crimes, was also on the scene and interviewed Wintergreen after that, but it eventually gets Patterson killed.
Later, when Morse began his investigation towards the death of George Aldrich, he found that Standish was playing golf alongside Landsman, Wintergreen, and Hugh Chard. When Morse asked about Landsman's possible association with Blenheim Vale, Wintergreen was displeased about Morse, but Standish merely said Morse was doing his job.
After Morse discovered the dark past of Blenheim Vale, Standish later met with Reginald Bright in a charity fair and accompanied with Clive Deare, who called Reginald "Reggie" to show their close relations, much to Bright's annoyance deep down. After the failed hit against Morse, Deare (who had revealed his true nature) visited Bright and told him about Morse being a criminal.
However, Deare was secretly setting up an improvised plan to frame Morse. To do so, Deare lured Standish to the dining hall, where he strangled Standish to death with Morse's scarf.
