Biography[]
Guarding the Fire Curse[]
Rupin was chosen to be the guardian of the Fire Curse as a young man for all eternity due to his extensive knowledge of Sea Curses. He was challenged by many seeking its power for ten years, defeating everyone who approached its hiding place. Growing tired of the constant amount of challengers who wished to claim the Fire Curse, Rupin finally decided it was best to just absorb the Fire Curse for himself. It eventually drove him insane, due to the volatile nature of the Fire Element, and he became a pirate. He committed crime after crime, burning down the Arcane Government's Freedom Lookout in the Second Sea in his most famous display of power. He eventually racked up a bounty of 2.5 Billion Lamina.
Arcane Adventures[]
Rupin, while in the Third Sea, came across Trigno, a pirate in possession of the Magma Curse. The two duelled so fiercely that it boiled the sea and formed large Obsidian plates, earning the area the name The Sea's Torment. The final clash flung Trigno to a nearby island, while Rupin was flung into a forest, burning it to the ground. Trigno recruited a magic user, the future Peacemaker, to help him defeat Rupin. They successfully defeated Rupin, but he survived and fled.
A while later, close to their true potential, Peacemaker again encountered Rupin and Trigno, locked in an intense battle. The force of their final duel destroyed three islands, but Trigno was eventually able to put Rupin down for good, releasing the Fire Curse from his body.
Legacy[]
Following his death and the growing instability in the Seven Seas, Trigno decided to retire from piracy and leave the war behind. Rupin's life story would be recorded in the 'Tragedy of Rupin,' which was locked away in The Myriad, a library in the sky.
Trivia[]
- He makes an appearance in the prequel game, Online Fighting. He guards the Fire Curse like in the book, but doesn't prevent players taking it for obvious gameplay reasons.
- His theme that plays during his boss fight is Soul of Cinder from Dark Souls III.
