Ryo Takashima is one of the three overarching antagonists (alongside Sohei Dojima and Kyohei Jingu) of the 2006 Yakuza 2 and its 2017 remake Yakuza Kiwami 2, as well as the overarching antagonist of the Majima Saga of Kiwami 2.
He is a former chief of the Omi Alliance headquarters and the patriarch of the Takashima family, who is in league with the Jingweon Mafia in hopes of taking over both the Tojo and Omi Alliance in hopes of reforging the Yakuza through his liking.
Biography[]
Following the (supposed) death of Yukio Terada, Kazuma Kiryu and Daigo Dojima travel to Osaka in order to go to the Omi Alliance headquarters in order to create an alliance between the Tojo Clan and the Omi per Terada's wishes, where Takashima can be first seen. Takashima explains that the Omi Alliance men that conspired with Kyohei Jingu were Ryuji Goda's men, the Go-Ryu clan, and that the people who "killed" Terada were likely the same people. The current chairman of the Omi, Jin Goda agrees to Kiryu's wishes of making a peaceful alliance between the Tojo and the Omi. However, Ryuji Goda, and his clan, the Go-Ryu family, interrupt them and attempts to stage a coup of the Omi Headquarters, and plans to overthrow Jin Goda, before the coup was stopped by Kiryu and Daigo.
Following this, Takashima puts a bounty on Kiryu and Kaoru Sayama, hiring a hitman to shoot the former using a non-lethal bullet, in order to make him know not to trust anyone.
It is revealed Takashima is also conspiring with the likes on Toranosuke Sengoku and Ryuji Goda. In contrast to Ryuji and Sengoku, Takashima works behind the scenes and never sends his men to fight Kiryu or get involved with the war.
In the game's finale, after Terada is revealed to have faked his death and is secretly the Jingweon Mafia member Daejin Kim, Takashima is revealed to be already aware of this. They are revealed to be working together in order to take down the Tojo Clan as Takashima's goals of were the same as the Jingweon Mafia's. Takashima however betrays Terada as he shoots him while saying that he is no longer useful to him. He then shoots and kills Jin Goda while revealing his plans to become the sixth chairman of the Omi Alliance and to gain control of the Tojo Clan as well, saying that he would rule over the nation's yakuza. Terada reveals there is one more bomb after the 33 that the Jingweon placed all over Kamurocho in order to get revenge on the Tojo Clan for the Jingweon Massacre. The bomb is right in front of them, and this enfuriates Takashima who then threatens Kiryu that he would shoot Kaoru. Ryuji, who was knocked out following a fight with Kiryu, emerges and shoots Takashima, with the two repeatedly shooting each other, until Takashima dies.
The last bomb placed by Terada was revealed to be a fake.
