Ryuuichi Yanase is the main antagonist of the Detective Conan/Case Closed two-part episode "Scoop Picture Murder Case" ("Snapshots of Death" in the dub). Yanase was known to be a well famed Photographer, who takes photos of various incidents involving fire. However, a trick on how he gets the photos and one certain photo wild expose him as a villain.
He is voiced by Hiroshi Takahashi, who also voiced Karatenmon from Digimon Frontier.
Biography[]
He first appeared at the 35th Yomikiri Photography Award in the Angel City Hotel, where he won an award for his photographs, involving a special one-of-a-kind watch.
Later he introduced himself to Kogoro, Ran and Conan as a reporter named Atsushi Nakai who seems to always be where Yanase would be to take the photo, arrived to reveal that he knows Yanase's secret of getting good shots of his disasters, including some white powders that Conan identify as Limestone.
After Conan arrived at Nakai's apartment, where it was caught on fire and sees Nakai's falling to his death, Yanase is seen taking pictures of the incident from the highway, confusing Conan. Later it was revealed that after the last photos, Yanase was going to be on tv where Kogoro would also appear as a guest. Before the taping, Yanase dropped a speeding ticket, which clue Conan into discovering that Yanase was the culprit. During the taping of the show, Conan knocked out Kogoro and revealed that Yanase was not only the killer of Nakai but that he was also the one who caused the incidents that resulted in him taking the photos.
However Yanase deny the claim, stating how he was able to create the fire, until Conan revealed that the white stuff Nakai had was Quicklime, which when expose to water would reach up to 300 degrees and create fire, which he also revealed that Yasane would use newspaper as the ignite to start the fire. However Yasane laughed if off as there's no proof that he did it but Conan revealed the first evidence, which had Dr. Agasa revealed in a photo of Naikai's kitchen sink, where it showed Yasane's watch that he won from the award was near the sink and while Yasane explains that he lost that watch after the ceremony and believed that Nakai stole it. However, Conan revealed the second piece of evidence, this time with Inspector Megure (who Conan called by pretending to be Kogoro earlier as megure revealed that a surveillance camera caught Yanase driving a car as he was seen speeding, where he was shown to have the watch on his arm the night Naikai had died, revealing that Yasane was the killer. Horrified that his plan was expose, Conan explain that the one thing he forgotten the most important part of being a photographer. The word "photograph" is composed of the characters, "reflect" and "truth".
It is assumed that after having his plan expose, Yasane was arrest and went to jail
