Biography[]
Ryuzo and Jin knew each other since childhood, and they were good friends, up until one day when Ryuzo has mysteriously disappeared for a while. Before meeting Jin again he lead a group of straw hats-wearing ronin. When Jin has found Ryuzo's hat lying on a grounded sword, he introduces himself and explains his situation, that his ronin are starving and desperately need food. They are ambushed by a group of Mongols and successfully fights them off. He then agreed to help Jin rescue Lord Shimura if he helps Ryuzo get food and supplies for the Straw Hats.
After some failed attempts at gathering them, Jin began his attack on Castle Kaneda. Jin fought his way through several Mongol soldiers and meets Ryuzo sitting on the edge of a pond. He then tells him of the bounty that Khotun Khan has put on Jin's head, and that he wants to use it to feed his ronin, but he fails, and retreats after alerting the Mongols of his presence.
Ryuzo is tasked by Khotun Khan to burn one of the peasants to convince the forces of Castle Shimura to open their gates, he does so, and a feeling of deep regret strikes him, making him fall on his knees and cry.
In the later events, Khotun Khan and Ryuzo are talking over their situation with the invasion being slowly broken, and him reconsidering if Ryuzo can defeat Jin or not. Ryuzo comes with the idea of convincing Jin to join their side.
After Jin has taken over Castle Shimura, Ryuzo is waiting for him inside and tries to no avail to convince him to join the Mongols. Then, he is defeated by Jin and admits his failure. Jin then proceeds to stab him in the stomach and lies down dead.
Personality[]
Ryuzo likes to be in control, although he prefers to say that the Straw Hats simply needed a leader. He cares deeply about them and even went through difficult tasks to achieve them, such as fighting Jin and burning a peasant. He was also mildly arrogant, underestimating Jin's skill until the second fight with him.
